You know, I’m all about age gaps ... IN HISTORICALS, but this seems a little too much, even if the guy was older and the girl was younger it would still feel off to me — it seems scouting young actresses is hard these days in South Korea lol, I’ve never been a fan of the whole “teacher falls in love with the student” trope because people glorify and romanticize it too much, and I’m sure this show is going to be the same, I love Lee Do Hyun but this isn’t it :/
I remember anxiously waiting for new episodes each week when this drama first came out, when I was at my uni, I’d go to the library, sit by the window on the 3rd floor and during my breaks of studying I’d watch the newer episodes without subs, good times ...
I come back here every now and then and think about how underrated this drama really is, it’s sad tbh — the story is amazing, it was actually a great remake of “Masquerade,” (and I never like remakes lol), it’s still one of my favorite historicals of all time, and Yeo Jin Goo’s dual performance ... will always be on the top of the list for me,
wait what??? This one too? We are getting tortured here, we are getting tortured.
Frrrrrr? It’s definitely getting old, I’d love to see a love triangle that isn’t cliché ... but that will probably never happen, I found myself learning away from kdramas too tbh, they’re all becoming predictable eye candy, with non-developed storylines and crappy character development imo.
In that case, maybe a rookie actor? We need some fresh new talent am I right? :’)
Maybe? I agree with screen experience though, if they’re used to acting and they have the acting skills for the character they’re going to play, I’m all for it! And although this isn’t a rom-com, I don’t think it matters what genre tbh, as long as they can act their part, that’s what is important, and if they’re a rookie, well, the world could use some fresh talent am I right? :—)
As much as I love JCW, I have not been a fan of his recent script choices :/ really hoping he gets some versatile roles in the future, Annarasumanara sounds promising though!
Great article!!!
