There’s all these people either blaming her or defending her. And here i am just torn as usual, this is just another case of a ‘bad person’ (to varying degrees) being good at what they’re doing. If the drama seems to be good I’ll watch it, if it’s not, I won’t. She’s a talented actress and Idk her personally, I won’t support her in an idol/influencer kind of way given her shady reputation, but I’ll look out for her dramas cause she’s at least that good of an actress.

Title One and Only Spoiler
Agreeeed, it was Bai Lu’s best performance yet, totally sold me. And now I dare say she’s the best Chinese…
You are right, I think the last 3 episodes were saved by her, I actually felt more anguish from her finding out he died than the part where he actually died lol. ML dying before the last episode usually cause lots of flaws, but Shiyi’s torment really saved it. On the contrary I’ve seen a lot of her past works and that’s why I’m impressed since I’m fully aware her real life demeanor (at least on set) is more similar to her livelier roles.

Title One and Only
finished this and I got to say Bai Lu's crying scenes were so gooood?? especially the last few epsiodes :(
Agreeeed, it was Bai Lu’s best performance yet, totally sold me. And now I dare say she’s the best Chinese actress (IMO). If you watch the bts, she cannot even stop crying even when shooting’s over.

Title One and Only
Do i need to watch this before starting forever and ever?
No I don’t think so. This one was supposed to be reincarnation with memory retained but I think they try to avoid anything sensitive (china’s unclear censorship guidelines) so my guess is they even removed the past life memory part (not sure).

As I've said, each to their own :D. Nevertheless I'm just glad some fans are happy with the adaptation. Well, happy watching I guess.

I appreciate you asking too, seriously thanks, that made me think. I think the chinese drama industry is improving a lot lately too, I saw a lot of good young actresses like seven tan, angel zhao, zhao lusi, etc.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
Basically its the problem with any/most adaptation. As a person who’s been a big fan of chang ge xing since…
I think Sandra Ma would have been a better fit for Chang Ge. Its not that shes a particularly good actress, rather her acting is a bit distant, giving out similar vibe to chang ge. (spoiler alert: changge is a bit similar to minglan, she was an arrogant intelligent kid, but life taught them to mature and not flaunt that smartness/idealistic views).

Also, appearance wise, shes the right kind of pretty. (Spoiler alert?) Canonically, chang ge is half uyghur, half han, but is mentioned to look han with the exception of her pupils lol, if I remmbr correctly her bro complained of her looking plain despite having her moms genes, to which she answered shes considered a beauty in the east. Meanwhile dilraba is definitely a dropdead gorgeous uyghur woman.

Since I've started this drama, the plot is wayyy too interesting and also dramatic, The very first thing that…
Basically its the problem with any/most adaptation. As a person who’s been a big fan of chang ge xing since I was literally a child, I understand where the criticisms come from. First of all, since its like a dream come true, we set our bars high, probably too high, secondly, If you’ve read the manhua, (I think) Dilraba is simply not a good fit at all for the character, and (imo only) her acting skills do hv rooms to be improved on. It’s exactly cos we know the storyline/material is great, thats why we keep on thinking it could be better just with the right casting, thats why some longtime fans are understandably mad (Of course some readers are happy with the adaptation choices)

No hate at all for dilraba, but the casting really did ruin this 8 years long wait for me. I think as a stand-alone for new watcher/readers it would be good, but too bad I had expectations. Well what’s done is done, just saying to give perspective.

Their chemistry has always been off the charts while the roles and universe they play are very different each time, it feels like watching reincarnations lmao. Looking forward to this!
