I feel you actually. Episode 6 was FLAT. In the novel, somewhere between episode 5 and 6, there’s numerous scene where Kano has a LOT of internal dialogues. It also explored their relationship more deeply and Kano’s realization towards Ogami. More to that, there’s also the train scene between Kano and OG Ogami before going to ‘apologize’ to the client. The tension there was intense. I think what really lacks the series is the build up of OG Ogami and Kano.
I didn't read the novel and I feel like I'm the outlier, but this one really let me down. The premise was great…
I do think it was because Daisuke was given a much more flexible script while Daigo remained melancholic throughout the series. Additionally, I think it was because MBS tried to fit it with 6-episode format (which had cut a huge chunk on emotional build up of the characters in terms of their development of relationship compared to novel).
