Depending on your opinion on Season 1, you will love/hate this just as much.

Long story short, season 2 of Hanzawa Naoki is essentially just a formulaic redo of season 1. Not to say it isn't attention grabbing and fun-to-watch, because it is, it's just that it follows an almost identical progression and storyline as S1.

I'll keep this short and cater it to the fans of season 1 deciding if it's worth a watch, bottom line is you will probably enjoy this just as much as the first installment. All the things that made the first series great are all here and the storyline is just about as compelling in this as it was the last. You could perhaps nitpick here and there and make a case for S1 being slightly stronger overall but as a major fan of this series with high expectations for this sequel I can honestly say I'm not disappointed.

The best comedy drama that you never knew existed until just now

I'll start by saying I do not give out perfect 10.0 scores lightly, I typically find some aspect of a series could use improvement. That said I'm glad to report that imho, as far as comedic dramas are concerned The Fiery Priest is about as close to perfection as you will ever find.

First, the casting is perfect for everyone and the individual performances in this series are superb. Just try not to fall in love with the entire cast by the end of the series, there isn't a weak actor in the bunch and every single character has a significant arc in one way or another.

The storyline is engaging and it never stalls, each episode peels back another layer to the onion so to speak while still keeping a rock steady pace from ep to ep.

But most important of all is that every single episode of this drama is solidly entertaining, genuinely funny and quite simply just a pleasure to watch. The hour goes by in what feels like 15 minutes and you will be wishing there was more to go by the end. There's not much to dislike here so do yourself the favor of giving this series a shot, I promise it won't disappoint.

Pleasant family friendly Japanese drama

If you're looking for a nice relaxing drama for you or your family to watch, this might be it. I'd say it's most redeeming value is the complete arc of the storyline, watching a new mother and young child through all the ups and downs of childhood through high school. Although not my favorite J-drama of the year it was definitely easy to watch and the episodes go by quickly. The acting and storyline are not deep but they don't really need to be and I'd recommend this to anyone looking to pass some time with a light-hearted feel good show.
