tbh me too they are my ghost ship.
Agreed! I like that he isn't just a one-note villain out to destroy the MC's happiness. He has a lot of his own problems to deal with.

So I stopped watching this at ep 3, I wasn't feeling it as much but that could be due to a number of outside things…
I'm with you. I didn't really start getting into it until I got past ep 3. Up is a really good actor, I agree with you that he seems really genuine.

The ending isn't sad but still you'll feel pain. it took me 9 days to lose the depression.
Thanks, that's good to know!

Without spoilers, can anyone tell me if this movie ends happily, or at least hopefully? After reading the synopsis I am prepared for pain but I have trouble watching movies that don't end well.

Yes, good point about how many of these tropes are common to all Asian dramas! There are definitely certain elements we expect to see when we watch a drama from Thailand, for example, or China.

As to the still in the article, I'll do my best:
#13 - Love By Chance, Guardian (this is a bromance, not BL),
#12 - Together with Me
#11 - 2 Moons, Kiss: the series
#10 - Love By Chance, The Lover (on youtube), Kiss: the series
#9 - Together with me, Long time no see (I think), My Tee, Like Love Uncut 2
#8 - Sotus
#7 - Waterboyy, the second is a drama I've watched but for the life of me I can't remember the title , Sotus
#6 - 2Moons
#5 - HIStory: Obsessed
#4 - Either Kiss: the series or Dark Blue Kiss, Sotus S, Love by chance
#3 - Together with me
#2 - first one isn't ringing any bells, Love by Chance, Sotus
#1 - 2moons, love by chance

Sorry if I'm wrong on a couple of those. :)

Good point. There are several series that are marketed as BL that may not revolve around a school setting. I've noticed that BL dramas are generally getting a little more flexible about the setting. (Not Me being a perfect example). I think as the BL genre evolves it will be more about sticking true to those classic BL tropes, rather than the setting being in a university or whatever.

Bakery Boys is an interesting case. It's based off of a japanese manga called Antique Bakery, which is technically Shounen-Ai. That's a genre that isn't really BL (there's not much romance) but there are lots of cute guys who may flirt with each other or suggest that there's something going on. You might call it queer-baiting, I suppose. I'm interested to see how far Bakery Boys goes into BL territory. My guess is that they will keep it fairly tame.

Just finished the first episode and WOW. What a strong first ep. The acting is much better, and the storytelling was excellent. Everyone's motivations make sense and I'm excited to see what happens next (even though I've got a pretty good idea where this is going.)

Most of this episode is a flashback to the events after the concert (around ep 8 I believe).

It's not like there is a hard rule about what is BL and what isn't, but if a show hits most of these points then it is probably BL:

- Revolves around a gay romance
- Typically made in Asia (many BL dramas are Thai and Taiwanese but there are many good quality shows coming out of the Philippines now, and it seems like S. Korea is trying to get into the game as well)
- Characters are portrayed as "boys" (young men or students)
- Usually takes place in a school setting but not always
- Contains many typical "BL" tropes (this is an interesting discussion of some common BL tropes but it's not exhaustive by any means: https://aminoapps.com/c/bldrama/page/blog/best-13-bl-drama-tropes/gqXJ_qdH6uq21WMZN4KnMv4MJYd5QwEaXW )

I hope this is helpful to you.

I seem to be in the minority here but I actually enjoyed most of episodes 1-6. The TinCan relationship develops…
LOL yeah, I skipped through all that. But there's not as much of it as you'd think. TL;DR Ae is depressed and pushes everyone away, Pond eventually get through to him.
