At first, the things interested me was the story idea where the main lead transmigrated from a modern world and to see more of Xiao Zhan's (because I just finished watching TU at the time). Honestly speaking, I was confused about why they didn't like focus on the time travel matter (which i loved btw) but as the story progresses I eventually forget that Fan Xian is from another timeline because of how amazing the plot is.
Fan Xian looks like an annoying and arrogant brat; though as the it progresses you can see how he actually isn't. Zhang RuoYun portrayed him so amazingly (as usual) to the point where you can feel Fan Xian's emotions, even the slightest ones.
Other's actings were so so so good as well, the one's caught my eyes were the seniors. Words alone wouldn't be enough to explain how fascinated I am with Chen Dao Ming and Wu Gang laoshi's actings. Whenever their characters appear on screen, a hundred of questions would start forming in my head. Things like, 'what are they thinking? what are they planning?' those kind of stuff.
I would write so much more but I'm keeping it spoiler free for now.
Can't wait for s2 <3 <3

rushed?
wow, okay, i'll try to keep this review as spoiler-free and straightforward as possible! (also as unbiased as possible lol ww)ive binged watched the gifted series in the past few days and i absolutely LOVED it. ive always loved supernatural things mixed with a tinge of thriller/mystery and the gifted really do it. well, season 1 at least does.
its true that it's quite literally impossible not to compare both seasons, but i felt like season 2 was too rushed compared to the first one. the last few episodes were way too over the place, too many plot twists that i felt just DIDNT make sense. hell--even half of the twists are about the same thing, same looped scenario that results in the mcs being in a state even worse than before. honestly, it was almost like watching the writers go off the rails live. there were so many--and i cannot stress this enough--so, SO MANY alternatives they could've chosen, both for the story and characters.
the characters in s2 falls completely flat and one-dimensional compared to s1. there were even times when i think that character A shouldnt have done that, because it doesnt make SENSE that they would do that in the first place. there's just a problem in characterization, honestly?? a serious one; especially when it comes to the juniors (time, third, grace). omg so many writing problems there.
(a little bit of spoilers (?) here, skip to next paragraph if you dont want to see) and what irks me the most is how much the characters put their trust solely on pang? like, yes i get that he's the leader of the group but at the same time it really feels... empty. it's like this wonderful group of students with high IQs cannot think for themselves even if their life depended on it, and they all just run back to pang at the end of the day. (dont get me wrong, pang is my favorite character, but i dont like this at all.)
other than that though, the acting, cinematography, and editing are gorgeous as usual. the cast!!! their acting are always an eye candy and i love it!! they've somehow managed to turn the insufferable script into something thats actually bearable to watch and sit through, god bless for them.
in conclusion, the gifted season 2 is way, WAY too rushed. it felt like they couldve done a lot more if given more time. the script and its writing is also questionable, it builds the plot for so long but ends rather anti-climatic--felt like holding your breath for so long only to be met with disappointment in the end. aah, really, what a waste of potential ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
thats all for the unbiased review! for the biased one: i loved it.
i loved seeing them together again, since somehow ive gotten awfully attached to these kids HAHA their interactions were fun, and im so happy to see the ending of their story. the actors and actresses too! so so happy to be seeing them here again ~~ thank you gifted for giving me a blast these past few days ^^

This review may contain spoilers
it had so much potential..
(before we start, keep in mind that this is copypasted from my twitter rant! )(THIS ALSO CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 37 (EPILOGUE))
ending wise i feel its anti climatic but its not that bad??? bc the series makes it up for it and it did it GOOD hello i love wkx and zzs' relationship so much they did a good job on writing it
i just wish there would be another episode that actually explains how wkx lived
but ok thats it for the biased review heres the non biased one bc i have a lot to say
starting it off, i dont get why zzs' character sometimes feel stagnant?? like yeahh baby go youre punishing yourself bc all the shit u did but at the same time why dont u learn how punishing yourself isnt the way to go?? ik wkx has told him this many times but i feel like zzs didnt improve at all and he was still doing the same thing even in the last episode like bestie !!!! u can die yes but what about others!!!! what about chengling!!! stop punishing yourself, theres so many other ways!!!!!
n then about wkx's character, i love how they wrote him n how hes a ghost chief and shit and i feel like he's the only character, who i could see, got major developments n i love him for it
anw abt the last 5 or so episodes what the hell.
no bc like i feel like they rushed the ending so much that it turns anti climatic in the end?? we saw wkx 'die' for like half an episode and suddenly hes back? it makes sense but the explanation for said death happens so quickly and i barely got any feelings after watching it like like??? i feel like the director couldve added a bit more jazz that could make it work? cause instead of feeling happy or relieved, i just felt robbed in that episode
THEN my biggest beef is on the last episode.
gx and cwn literally got k/lled, your whole sect just got destroyed, and you didnt do anything abt it??? what about the scorpion king???? zhao jing???? prince fucking jin????? what happened to them????!?? how did it end on such a cliffhanger?? why did u take the easy route and say that xie er and zhao jing died in the avalanche????????? WHAT ABOUT OTHER RIGHTEOUS SECTS THAT MURDERED THE GHOST VALLEY???????
theres so many unfinished questions like wtfff they rushed the last episode so much i was genuinely waiting to see what would happen to prince jin and his lackeys, esp now that hes crippled bc of zzs
idk maybe itll be a great seed for zzs to make amends with his past??!????? AND THEN SUDDENLY THE ENDING??????????? WKX WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE AT THE ENDING BC OF THEM MISCOMMUNICATING W EACH OTHER SINCE THEY BOTH WANTED TO SAVE ONE ANOTHER THATS GOOD BUT??!??!??! WKX LIVES???? SOMEHOW???????
and they didnt explain either how wkx lives ohmygod im still so hellbent on that
it wouldve been better ngl if they both died at the armory with all the mess finished and they both reincarnate and meet cwn and gx again since they have that red tie bracelet thing
bc if they both died!!!! it would actually make sense for the story!!????!?
i mean im not aganst them becoming immortals and living a life together forever but I JUST THINK. MAYBE IF YOU HAD EXPLAINED HOW WKX LIVED N SHIT. so anyways yes im still not over how they just let go the main villains that easily because i actually want to see a finish line to it????????????
tldr i just feel like they skipped too many plot points and scenes n making the ending feel. empty.
