For me, much like Romance of Tiger and Rose, the charisma of the female lead is enough to overcome the unlikeable…
I, too, watch for a good FL, but the chemistry becomes very unbalanced and unconvincing without some decent acting from the ML. There are some I pushed through with, but my conclusion is that life is too short to spend on I memorable dramas.
I usually like the sort of set up this drama has, but I'm on episode 13 and I can't buy the ML and FL's romance... I find the ML's acting extremely stiff and hard to get into. FL because of her character has to be a bit restrained in her expressions, but it makes for a very tense chemistry between the leads, and not in a good way. This is my second time trying this drama and I guess I'll drop it.
The only thing I enjoyed was G.E.M 鄧紫棋 ‘s theme song lol
Lol I came to check out the drama since the song was so nice, but it's almost hilarious how they managed to pay for such quality packaging when the drama doesn't match up to the weight of the song.
I absolutely love her acting... Though she's been in lighter fare, you can really see what she's capable of in the heavier scenes in To Get Her and Ancient Detective... She's one of those actresses who can act with her eyes. I can't wait for more of her work.
Wow this definitely does not deserve such a low rating... It takes some getting used to but still manages to pack a full story in 1 minute episodes! I enjoyed both this and the second season.
Finished watching and I really enjoyed the drama, especially the second leads' love story. Wish Wang Shuo had more shows filmed! I guess I will try The Birth of the Drama King next.
It took me a while to get into the show... Think I wasn't absorbed until around episode 10. Like someone else said, it's not really addictive (I didn't really feel like I needed to binge watch it) but it was entertaining and well-written.
the realism in character development is only matched by the lack of realism in character costume. writing and…
I agree so much with your comment about Xiao Jing -- on paper I should have disliked her character and preferred the main female lead, but I was surprised when it was the opposite way for me!
I think it should've been already clear he likes Pei Jing at that point and he only kept the marriage proposal…
Thank you! Yes, I just wondered why he reacted so strongly when his dad insisted he break up his engagement. I think he did regard Xiao Jing positively but it doesn't really tip into anything until a while later. Episodes 30-32 are my favourite!
I'm up to episode 19 and I'm really curious, how does Wang Kuan view Zhao Jian? Zhao Jian is clearly the FL to the ML, but Wang Kuan seems to really like her?
Still think Zhao Jian is the best female lead to grace an "idol drama" screen.
Thanks, this sounds promising to me. I've clicked out of so many dramas because I didn't like the FL. Now on the search again after watching and enjoying a Chinese drama after a long time.
I watched it on YouTube! I also loved FL's acting. I first noticed her in Ancient Detective. She's just a supporting…
Psychic Princess is more an experiment in a different format. It's short one minute episodes for a total of 52 episodes. But it's adapted from a manhwa and it takes that style, so you have to imagine you're seeing an animated version of a comic book. I actually wish they fleshed it out even more, but I still enjoyed watching her.
I really enjoyed this drama and want to watch another historical... But I'm very sensitive to screechy/annoying female leads, even those who are supposed to be strong. I prefer to watch actresses who are very natural in their acting (e.g. FL here). Could someone recommend one? Preferably well-paced like this one, with good chemistry between the leads, and not too draggy.
