Start Up is not a great show. It just has a lot of people watching because it's on Netflix, and MDL is for international Fans.
I can't speak for popularity on MDL, but Kdrama in general is more popular on Netflix as compared to Jdrama and Cdrama. There are more Kdrama compred to Cdrama on netflix.
Why is that the case? I don't know, maybe because the Korean wave has more effect towards international fans compared to the Chinese wave.
But anyway, I'm not here to start another fan war between Kdrama or Cdrama, because frankly I don't care.
I just wanted to correct you that this comment section did not cause MDL to drop every single drama by 2-3 points. Unless you have proof it did, then I would be surprised.
I highly doubt it. It wouldn't make sense. The MDL cleanse started before this drama even started.
My favorite shows also lose about .2-.3 ratings. And you don't see me complaining right?
MDL has always been on the uber positive in terms of ratings anyway, with a lot of people just rating everything and anything all 10's. I prefer the dramas not be as horribly biased compared to Viki, or other review websites.
Plus Untamed is still 8.8, that's still pretty solid. My dramas which were 9 before, or 8.8 before are 8.5 or 8.4 now. But for me IDC, because I loved those dramas, and a slight adjustment on the rating scaling isn't goin to make me lose sleep.

My opinion is that, when the MDL "Cleanse" happened, they got rid of some of the accounts that were spammers or bots, and their rating on untamed may have been affected.
Now, I haven't seen untamed, but I've heard good things about it. And I understand some of you have beef with the website, but let's give the admins/mods some slack, it's not easy to moderate a website with so many trolls, spammers and bots. Where an actors/actress fandom can be so fanatical as to make multiple accounts to affect ratings. Case in point, look at TKEM and Start Up, two shows that should be rated lower, but are hanging on to a 7.9/10 ratings due to all the fake accounts.
Anyway, in the face of adversity, instead of fanning hatred, try to opt for more diplomatic relations with the right people on MDL. Hope things get sorted out here!

Yeah, literally every episode revolved around HJP, until his screen time was cut into almost nothing.
Pretty ridiculous. Plus i'm going to repeat, NJH and Suzy's acting were overshadowed, because they are not good actors/actresses. Add to the fact that KSH is an amazing actors, and you end up with Suzy and NJH pretty much being supporting roles in terms of presence.

Well, because of IG and social media in particular, a Star's marketability doesn't have to do with their acting prowess or screen presence, but rather how many followers they have on IG.
So what we get are bad actors/actresses where rather than the actors fitting the script, the writers need to write to fit the actors.
That's why the few Kdrama that are amazing, just stand out so much, because the average kdrama are pretty bad, and only get hyped up because the flavor of the month or flavor of the year is starring there.
I doubt this will change any time soon with the advent of Netflix and Kdramas, the international and maybe local audience will demand more handsome/pretty actors/actress that are trending or well known.
Of course the veterans are still going to have their audience, but for streaming services, these type of dramas will be par for the course. The PBG, NJH, Suzy, LMH and etc... your just going to see them more and more, and that's tragic as the veteran actors/actress do such a better job.

two years to write? I doubt this mess is what she had in mind, and rewrites for Ep. 15? and last minute kissing scene in ep. 7? i'm doubting it.

In my honest opinion, I think it all started with HJP ending with SDM. But I guess the casting director couldn't pass up NJH and Suzy both being on board, so they started rewriting it. But PHR probably didn't want to change her first few episodes, because of how long it took her to write.
Then KSH happened. I believe that had KSH been portrayed by a more douchebag/cold actor, HJP would not have gotten as much sympathy.
And so they started to see people supporting the wrong ship, and by the time they fixed the issue, it was too late, people were not willing to change ship anymore.
I thought I was over it but I've just had another moment of despair. I SO want see the scene we were meant to…

I think it's very possible the writer were forced to change the script considering how predictable and cliched the plot ending up being.
Plus if you watch the scenes of SDM and HJP In the early episodes, SDM is giving HJP those googly eyes full of love. But then, in the latter episodes, they just disappear LOL!

I am getting tired of seeing the negative post about the show being trolled by the positive posts. There seems to be a group of people on standby 24/7 that troll and bully those with negative reviews.
I don't care how good a show is, no show deserves all 10's. Lazy writing alone is worth an 8/10 at least.
