wow, this gave me goosebumps. It's heartbreaking yet beautiful at the same time.
Rewatch the scene, and focus on HJP's facial expression towards NDS, it's so damn powerful, when you look at what the statement really meant.

SDM mentions that is was NDS hands that made her fall in love with him. Then they show a flashback of when NDS is holding SDM hands to give her comfort in the networking party.

If you actually continue that clip, HJP comes in to hold NDS hands (shoulders to be exact) for comfort by saving the day.

So, due to the transitive law of mathematics, "If A is equal to B, and B is equal to C, then A is equal to C"

If SDM finds comfort in NDS hands, and NDS finds comfort in HJP hands, then SDM finds comfort in HJP's hands.

Eureka! I've cracked the code! MIJI endgame, all but confirmed.

In Ep. 14 when HJP says "I'm pretty sure I have the right."

This is the single most powerful statement in the whole show. And I still get goosebumps when I re-watch this simple elevator scene. Let me explain why.

I am sure most people simply saw this simple statement as HJP lying to NDS that he and SDM are dating so that he will back off. Some even saw this as a selfish move.

But there is more to this statement than meets the eyes. This simple statement is basically distilling all of HJP, all of who he is, all of what he has gone through to reach this point, into one powerful line.

The title of Ep. 14 is elevator pitch. And as described, an elevator pitch is when you have 1 minute to convince the other person of your pitch. While everyone needed more than a few minutes, more than a few statements to convince people in this episode. HJP only really needed that one beautifully simplistic statement, "I'm pretty sure I have the right".

Couple this with the look HJP gives to NDS. It's not a gloating look, it's not a superior look, it's the look of a man, who is in clear desperation. It is the look of a prisoner, wanting to have one final glimpse of the rising sun.

This elevator pitch was not meant for NDS, but rather it was meant for us, the viewers. Let me explain further.

"I'm pretty sure I have the right"

We are all aware of how hard HJP's journey has been, from being an orphan, to having to leave Grandma 15 years ago, to discovering Grandma's blindness. And throughout this tough journey he has constantly been doing the right things, being the "Good Boy", and sacrificing his true happiness for others. In doing so, he has created a world with limited boundaries, a world where many doors have been glued shut. A world with limited options.

Ever since he was young, he was never allowed to be selfish. Each time he has been selfish, he has been punished severely. He hasn't allowed himself to be selfish for more than a moment. He constantly lets his happiness take a back seat to doing what's right, what is professional.

That one line in the elevator is the manifestation of 18 years of holding it in, of doing what's right all the time, of never doing what is good for him. It was one of his first acts of being selfish. And I'm sure it felt good to him. To finally do something for himself rather than all the people out there.

I'm sure in HJP's mind, he is thinking, everyone has been selfish in getting their happy ending. Everyone has done worse than him, yet has been rewarded. For a brief moment there, he wanted to say, it's my turn. It's my turn to be selfish, my turn to put my happiness in front of other's happiness.

But, as we later found out, it was a fleeting thought, and he later goes back to his self imposed imprisonment. But that momentary freedom from his self imposed boundaries must have felt amazing to him.

And I can absolutely relate to this. To suddenly break free from being consistently good according to societies eyes, and to suddenly break character and, even for a brief moment do something that is selfish to secure one owns' happiness, even for a fleeting moment, feels so rewarding.

It's my first Suzy drama, and although I agree she's really beautiful, I would rather watch actresses who are less pretty, but better actresses.

Of course this is just my personal opinion.

Nam do san is a good man, i think he will spoil dal mi and follow whatever is her wishes. Hjp is also a good man,…
The scenario I propositioned is actually VERY realistic. In real life, for women/men in love triangle, seeing the love you let get away become more happy than you is a constant reminder you made the wrong choice.

In fact this exact scenario has been the plot of many movies and tv shows in both western and eastern cinema.

why do you guys often make jokes like this? seems to be cornering Dosan continuously.
It's all we have left, since the ship is sinking. Plus it's meant to be satire, a form of comedy.

The concept of karma is, if you do good, good things will happen to you, if you do bad, bad things will happen.

To further simplify this, we separate the characters into heroes and villains. Where the villains get their bad karma coming due to their bad deeds, and the heroes get rewarded with good karma.

VILLAINS:

Grandma - becomes blind

Mother of SDM - has to stay with grandma her whole life, even though she has the money to move out

HJP - will end up lonely

WIJ - her punishment is yet to come

HEROES

SDM - becomes CEO, and will get her true love

NDS - becomes rich, and will get his true love

Cheul San - becomes rich, and will get his true love

Yong San - becomes rich, and becomes CEO of new company

well KES first cable drama sucked also.
I think Mr. Sunshine aired in TVN first, then the rights were brought to Netflix.

TKEM was from the very beginning bought by Netflix. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Maybe I am a minority here, but I wasn't blown away by Suzy's acting. Her micro expression, and general facial expressions have kind of been dull and forced.

Until now, I still don't feel her love for NDS. In fact, the only reason I know she loves him is that she keeps crying and acting like a lunatic.

Kang Hanna on the other hand has really impressed me.

what about ep 14 where he left his mom at the side of the road to go help dalmi with her emergency lol
NDS went on a narrow backroad, it even looks like a biking path. And it's heavily implied she walked, and got so tired she fell and scraped her leg.

I found it weird NDS said he biked for 5 hours. In my experience Walking is usually x2 or x3 time compared to biking.

The symbolism from the writer is that, SDM was so concerned in showing NDS how pretty she is, and didn't want her to see her without her looking her best. But she loved him so much, she is willing to look like a mess to be with him. Swoon!

Mark my word, 2 years after being married to NDS, and the honeymoon stage has passed, SDM will realize all the good things HJP has done for her, she will realize out of all the people, HJP understood her the most, and will realize that HJP is her best friend.

But by that time, it will be too late, because HJP has found happiness with someone else.

That is the perfect ending for me, and I hope it ends like that.

I find it so offensive that the writer thinks that the viewers will just accept everything that NDS has done for 12 episodes as immaturity? And assumed viewers will accept it.

And after 3 year time skip, he matures, and it fixes everything? How stupid does the writer think we are?

Also, the anger issues of NDS are still clearly there, he is just better at hiding it. And god, SDM has become so much more pathetic as a woman, why would a WOMAN writer write such a character.
