A lot actually happened in this ep, like, surprisingly a lot. It felt a little glitchy at some points, a little off track, but it came around toward the end.
Jack is suuuuuper dense. He's one of those types who doesn't learn from mistakes until it's too late. Joke should wear tank shirts more often, looks good on him.
As for the upcoming deal between then boss and Joke, it's gonna be another amusing clusterfuck no doubt, so that'll be a laugh 🤣 I an't help wondering if the Boss' whole game plan is to let the 'three little pigs' fuck up and get caught to get Joke out of the way. Maybe not though, not if he actually believes Joke and his peanut gallery are good at being thieves, which, LOL.
Speaking of the peanut gallery, that was NOT a business presentation, that was a 2nd grade school project that would have gotten a B minus 🤣 The judge who said 'Go play with this at home' was just saying what needed to be said.
I like the build up we're getting here of Jack and Joke's closeness, the predictable 6 episode kiss or hook up is played out AF. The one thing Thai BLs generally can't get right is building up relationships between their leads, but I think they're doing that with Jack and Joker. Some have said there's no sexual tension between them, but I disagree, the thing is, the sexual tension is present in all the places it's not expected to be, and that's been interesting to notice. Like in the latest ep, the sexual tension was present when they were disagreeing in the hospital room at the end, but it actually faded when the music changed to something sentimental and Joke was reaching out slowly to touch Jack. Poof. Gone. It's almost like the director's not sure exactly how to work with the high tension dynamic. Pity, it could be very, very hot to work with. I'm getting flashes of We Best Love S02 'make up' scene, except without the drunkenness. A pinch of aggressiveness, a touch of emotional yelling, a sprig of manhandling, someone's back against a vertical or horizontal surface.
Over all good ep, a little funny and a little serious and a little over the top in some entertaining ways, all good fun. As for Grandma, she knows what's been up with Jack and Joker from the start, she's on that, we don't have to worry, she'll get Jack and Joker sorted out
Did the rest of the episodes get released by being chopped up to please censors? It seems to me, that they might…
Considering how the Cn censors work, in order to meet their no-homo needs, some stuff would have to have been cut from eps 1 and 2 to re-air, because eps 1 and 2 don't meet the bull shit 'code' the forced bromances usually follow. But so far eps 1 and 2 are the same as the original run, and it's airing on Gaga, so thus far, it's looking good. Whether it'd be worth watching if it is cut, is down to personal taste.
I enjoyed this ep, didn't even skip all of the side character stories that much since they didn't last too long. Everything else was fine and fun and amusing.
With regards to Noh and Phun, to me, it hasn't been all that clear since the beginning (especially since Noh and Phun established that they like each other more than once) as to specifically why they don't do anything about liking each other, like dating. At first it seemed to be about Aim and Yuri, but Yuri has been shot down twice already and I think she finally got the memo, and Aim and Phun are 100% not into each other like that, they're basically friends letting people thinking think they're more than friends while many people already doubt they're more than friends.
So, now that Phun knows that Noh knows about Aim, they're probably gonna have a bit of a disagreement about 'keeping secrets', but perhaps after that, they'll make some progress seeing as how there is nothing left stopping them from openly liking each other. Hm. I say all this as someone who never watched the original, so I'm entirely speculating.
It was definitely overexaggerated. I do know Asians can be more conservative with females showing skin sometimes, but she's literally at the beach and wearing a perfectly acceptable swimsuit with shorts for her age, his reaction was pretty overdramatic. lol
Haven't started this yet, but I'm keen, I hope I can enjoy the ML though, I really wasn't a fan of him in Dashing Youth recently, ended up dropping that. Guess I'll see.
What did they say? Roughly. It's so lovely to see them and to hear the music!
Zhiguang: Everyone watching WOWOW, hello, I'm Xia Zhiguang. In ``The Spirealm'', I play Ruan Lanzhu. Please support this drama and Ruan Lanzhu. "You can reject me, but not the door. Welcome to the world of doors."
Junjie: Everyone watching WOWOW, hello, I'm Huang Junjie, who plays Ling Jiushi. I'm glad that "The Spirealm" is being broadcast in Japan. It starts with loneliness after meeting and parting, until the fateful reunion. For Jiushi it's a journey to find himself, and it's also salvation. Every door has a story hidden behind it. Please enjoy and support “The Spirealm”.
Yep, both MLs are dubbed, Zhiguang likely because his voice was not 'mature' enough for the character, and Junjie…
I don't know if they get 'credited' per se, but their names are listed for doing the roles. But dubbing is common in Cn dramas so it's not a big deal, it's standard stuff, predominantly in costume dramas.
Fyi, Ruan Lanzhu is dubbed by voice actor Li Yan Feng (李彦丰) and Ling Jiushi is dubbed by a voice actor named Da Xin (大昕).
does anyone know if ruan lan zhu’s voice was dubbed or if xia zhiguang did it himself? asking cuz the actor’s…
Yep, both MLs are dubbed, Zhiguang likely because his voice was not 'mature' enough for the character, and Junjie because he has a notable accent. I think he's not a city kid, has a country Cn accent.
should I watch it? it will be my first bl! or should I wait for movie first? I mean, I really like the ML in movie.…
If this is your first 'BL' you're gonna have a bad time 😂 not because it's a bad show, but because it's 12% BL and the rest is LGBTQ drama, and that's gonna get confusing when you watch an actual BL. Like whiplash.
I agree, one of my two issues with this drama was the unclear/undefined timeline of the story, it could definitely…
Hm, it's common though. People do the same with totally fictional characters in writing, it's always obvious that most people will try to make their lead characters somehow redeemable if they're not 'good' in the conventional way, because most people struggle to accept a character who isn't 'good' or excusable on some level. It can be pretty boring imo. I like some of my ML's totally unapologetic about who they are, probably why Deadpool and Hannibal are my two fave fictional characters 😆
This could also be why Go Young's character didn't bother me, he was not apologetic about his shitty decisions and I appreciated that, he just kept on keeping on, digging that hole he was in a little deeper each time. heh.

Yang Zicheng = Chen Yi from Kiseki: Dear to Me

Xia Zhiguang finally getting to talk about The Spirealm! Short and sweet. That music still HITS me in the feels ya'll. Junjie did one too: https://x.com/PLAMUEKWITHMARK/status/1849758521241297257/video/1
