This episode had MANY highlights. Like Granny being a total laugh riot with that absolute gremlin smile she gets when she's thinking Jack and Joke are a couple π And Tattoo's facial expression about almost everything, as well as his spot on delivery of the line 'I don't believe you.' when Jack said, 'I'm actually smart.' It was so good ππ And Joker saying 'I do a lot of things.' after the guy in the bank (I forgot his name) asked wasn't Joke an electrician, like being someone's cousin is just something you can also do as a pass time or occupation πππ Arun is also just such a hilarious mess π And Hope continuing to make jokes even after having the shit kicked out of him, very on brand for a sociopath πππ I like his personality.
I was a little thrown by the sudden almost flirtatious closeness of the at home 'school scene', because it felt like it came out of nowhere, maybe too soon? Or maybe it felt like Joke would be the one to be bolder first out of the two of them. But either way, it was still a good scene. Good feels.

I wasn't even all that interested in this (since I'm not a fan of anyone in this), I was just going to watch it like any other KBL, but seeing all the fuss the homophobic pressed bitches are kicking up, here's hoping this BL does really well because fuck them bitchesπ
There is something missing but I don't think its the chemistry. I believe it's the direction. Way tooooooo many…
- There is something missing but I don't think its the chemistry. I believe it's the direction. - Neil's grief is overshadowing the love story. - No lightning or thunder here. (yep, it's more like a steady hum with no pops)
I agree with these three points specifically. I think these are the drawbacks of this show, had they adjusted their focus more on the present and less on the past, and worked on increasing the romantic tension a bit more, it would be greatly improved. But alas, it's just a luke warm romantic BL. Still enjoyable though imo.
What is your most favorite scene from MDZS novel ?Mine - When LWJ caught the falling WWX from the tree . I mean…
The important development of their relationship that happens when Wei Wuxian gets to take Lan Zhan to Lotus Pier for the first time ever, and he shows him around, the tree scene, the bows and even the resulting fight with Jiang Cheng was so important. It was all meaningful, sweet, emotional and intense.
This show is definitely flying ' basic' as its flag so far, nothing wrong with it, it's just likely not gonna leave a lasting impression by the time it's over if it goes on this way. I'll continue to watch for Cooheart (for now).
PS: it never fails to make me laugh when I think of how in the west, if you touch a grown man's head and call him a good boy, you'll probably be catching hands π
I find it odd that the series never revealed Gao Dawei's face....When they kept his face hidden, I had presumed…
The censorship is what makes the drama have to deviate, so Gao Dawei was made up in the drama to further the video game plot. If you're a reader I'd suggest reading the novel, even if only from the 11th door through to the end. The premise is a real alternative world in the novel and Ruan Nanzhu (Lanzhu) is not a literal NPC, the term is just used as a reference to the beings in the alternate worlds they have to survive in, he is real in the novel, and ending of the novel is very different with a very satisfying ending.

Hi! To answer you question, it's because Gao Dawei is a plot device created for the series, he doesn't exist in the novel. There is no virtual game in the novel at all, it's a real alternate world. So there was no reason to place visual importance on Gao Dawei's character in the series, they just needed a character to refer to as the game's creator who had a personal connection to Jiushi. Fun fact: The resemblance was because Gao Dawei is played by Xia ZhiGuang, the same actor who plays Ruan Lanzhu. This is just because there was no reason to get a whole other actor to play a plot device character, more convenient. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/290693350965493398/
The ending also has a few different interpretations, so Gao Dawei's major changing can be seen differently according to those.
Usually I'd tell people to watch from the official source, but this one, you gotta watch the lazy subber version.
Haha! Yes, I'd say first watch Lazysubber's version, then watch the official subs, because Lazysubber really did make TWM even more memorable than it already is.
This has kind of become a background watch for me. Playing it mostly while doing something else, closing or pausing it to watch something else and so on. It's just too safe and too uncomplicated for a show that started with a kidnapping. It's not even remotely high stakes. Pity, I was interested when it first started.

Another great ep, keen for next week!
