This drama was very flawed in plot & character development. Yet, I know that I am going to re-watch it over and over.
I absolutely adore Xu Jin. What a heroic character, overcoming so much adversity. He could have let everything that happened to him turn him into someone pathetic like Xu Ping. Instead he remained loyal and kind. Luckily, for him, he had a great master. His master was a better to him then the emperor.
I enjoyed watching him unwillingly fall in love with Fu Rong. Love came to him at a worse time, when he was barely back at court and overloaded with responsibility as well as constant threats to himself. He didn’t have to acknowledge his feelings for her but he did. (I love the scene where FR is explaining why she was trying to steal his underwear. I liked that they focused on him and his expressions as she’s telling. You can see his array of emotions, from bewilderment to amusement to smitten-ness.)
Last, I love his relationships with his bodyguard, doctor, and Wu Bai Qi. They are the brothers and friends he never really had. There’s no doubt that he would die for him but there’s also no doubt they would take a sword for him.

I’m getting ready to tackle Love and Redemption. I can’t think of any new idol dramas to watch. Can’t complain because I’ve had a good run the past few months with The Moon Brightens For You, Love is Sweet, Qing Qing Zi Jin...,etc.
