I came in with low expectations (*looks at Alan Yu*) but I was caught by surprise at how much I am enjoying it. Xing Fei is fantastic in her costume drama. The writing is very good, even with the typical tropes included.

So much is going to happen. I wonder how it will all be resolved. Hope we don’t get that rushed ending. These characters deserve to be left in a good place. Well, the good ones anyway.The other ones need their comeuppance.

I did notice it. Their wedding was very small. It was nothing like the grandeur of the wedding of the WY and the Princess. But they had all the heart & emotion, surrounded by loved ones, unlike the other wedding. Show’s way of “showing” and not “telling” of the trajectory of these couples’ lives?

I saw a bit of the first ep. Why did the general save his bride and then abandon her so that she now had to walk to his home?

This is one of my favorite scenes. Her maid is all of us asking QH to show LF that QH cares for him. And QH does, in her own unique way.

That’s been my theory and also that he will die trying to protect QH. It’s his redemptive arc.

Maybe it’s part of LF’s plan to jump off the cliff so there are safety previsions put in place.
