I was initially excited because of Liu Xueyi but now I’m doubly excited for both! I wonder if YK will try to fast track the production to capitalize on the success of both In Blossom & The Double.

I skipped all his scenes because I so despised him. It affected my viewing of Story of Kunning Palace & I skimmed the arc with Zhang Zhe. Now, I need to re-visit that arc and bare the heartache of 2nd lead syndrome. 😂
A big plus for WXY: he was not afraid to tacks a villian role.

I don’t think it became popular due to the directing. A lot of us were cursing at the weird zoom -ins & zoom-outs.
There were many reasons that it become popular, as you mentioned, the couple is the main reason. A’Li & Xiao Heng are both smart, strong individuals who are formidable together.

So, the script was so vague, WJY & WXY had to decide together what stage in the relationship Duke Su & his beloved A’Li were in.

1) They do kiss. But this drama is all about the slow burn and sensuality of just touching. Picture a Jane Austen movie but with fight scenes.
2) It is a happy ending!

I’ve been thinking about this scene. The galloping horses could be re-imforcement troops that arrived a bit late.

Mine was A’Li going to Luyang. The Ye family was moral support she needed. I remember reading a comment from a novel reader that said when the Jiang family moved out of the capital, the Ye family move in.
Also, having the leads spending time together, culminating in the rain scene, is why I will re-watch this arc the most.

I agree with what everyone else has said. I’d lack to add that around the FL, he’s greenest of green flags. Part of the joy of watch this, is seeing how he cares for, through actions & careful words.
