Nope, she's worse apparently.. If they follow the novel, the ML used to crush on the SFL because she was older and had taken care of him. They were considered childhood sweethearts until the Wei family got devastated so she married someone else.
The show has not shown any hint of her at all unless I missed it.
The mother and cousin schemed and drugged Wei Shao with a potent aphrodisiac. And then the servant tricked him and locked him in a room where the cousin was waiting for him (that's the person all dressed up in red in the episode 10 preview).
Wei Shao managed to overcome the effects and kicked his way out of the room. In the novel, there were some intimate moments between him and Qiao Man as she helped to relieve his discomfort :D
Ultimately, the cousin was driven out of the house by the Grandmother who was enraged about the incident and the audacity as well as stupidity of the mother.
I love how the story is developing but I feel bad for the FL. I think she's going to fall for real and get her heart broken first. Yes he obvious ly fell first but he's going to deny deny deny
This is so good - the tension, the emotions, the chemistry with some great humor thrown in. I really like the directing, camera work and music as well.
Love Wei Zi Xin in the Advisor Gongsun role - such a shipper of the main couple.
I enjoyed the love stories woven throughout the drama—each couple’s bond was heartfelt, with their devotion and sacrifices portrayed so poignantly. The casting was spot on; every actor brought depth and authenticity to their role. The relationship between WQHY and DFHZ, in particular, was beautifully tender—their smiles, paired with the gentle background music, never failed to melt my heart. The series packed a lot into 36 episodesand managed to tell an emotionally satisfying story for me. I appreciated the straightforward pacing—conflicts were resolved efficiently, allowing the narrative to unfold smoothly without unnecessary detours. In the end, it was the simplicity of the plot, the compelling performances, the memorable soundtrack, and the well-drawn characters that made this show truly impactful for me.
I am not sure if we have seen the last of the female cousin. To be fair, it is more the mother that was the stupid one.
Interesting twist on the portrayal of Wei Yan...he's more sinister than I expected.

They learn to trust and care for each other—even as they plot against one another.
