Chen Yan Yun has already saved FL three times and now she recognized/remembered him and knows that it was he who pulled her out of the water. ML drew a picture of FL. He best partner, even if he has enemies, he is strong enough.

Script decision was wrong.
They could have given us the bad ending and a happy ending in an extended alternate reality. Just take 10 minutes and make a beautiful happy ending with a parallel reality where Yan Xin abandons her hatred, ML and FL stay together forever, Chun'er falls in love with Li Yan, and Li Ce becomes King. But a timeline that makes sense. What the drama did was give us "possibilities," but not a different timeline.

This should be, at most, a love triangle, but even then, I personally find this type of plot too boring.

Love triangles are boring; most C-dramas don't even develop them properly. There might be four men, but usually only one of them really has a chance

Honestly, the drama loses its way; after a certain point, it becomes monotonous, and the entire romance plot is bad. 5/10
