yup, sadly. i wish they didn't have them have a pretend sibling relationship and then turn it around but imo they have the best dynamic and potential and they're ready to die for each other, so. π§π»ββοΈπ€·π»ββοΈ

i do like XL now, but his past abusive behaviours can't be forgotten.the point isn't if they knew that she was a girl or not, violence is violence. CX has always been nice to everyone, he was very genuine and forgiving towards XY as XL no matter how much trouble she got him in. the only time he abused her and jing was when he had to follow orders which they disobeyed. yup, I'm biased. ππ π»but Xiang kiu... eh, i don't hate him and i do empathise w his character. he could've been such a beautiful element to the story if his character didn't have that unnecessary violent arc written for him. again, i do like him in the later episodes more and he has pretty good chemistry with xiaoyao.idk i'm kinda waiting for cang xuan's angsty one sided yearning arc, sooooo π

I DON'T GET YAOLIU SHIPPERS, WHY DO THEY FIND HIM SO HOT???
i like him more now but in the beginning, guy threw her from a tall tree, gave her 40 lashes on sight, threatened to kill her countless times etc, and they call his love "pure" haha, mfs...
I think she loves him ! Maybe u have not reach those parts yet. π I also agree with you that she loves him…
i mean, she acts like someone who doesn't really feel it but is just copying what they've seen others do in romantic relationships, someone who's clueless about it.

i agree. but again, she has trust issues and thus has to test people again and again(I'll be a pos and say that i don't really feel the cause of her trust issues).oh... wha... gave her Heart?? please don't spoil me, i'm on ep 25. π₯Ίdamn. i fundamentally struggle with feeling and understanding the concept of romantic love and i really settled on something there but... π₯Ί is that not love? now i'm questioning myself even more. :/ maybe it's just because I'm really attached to him, haha!
i love xiaoyao. she's so smart, is people smart, has really high standards, is always helpful and kind. she's literally ready to die for xuan, i love their bond.
while on the other hand. contrary to what she says often, imo she gives away too much of herself, to many people. it's like she scatters pieces of herself everywhere, to keep everyone satisfied. this isn't really obvious but very subtle, i think.
but when it comes to jing, she's very confusing. and hurtful. why do i feel like she'll never ever give her heart to anyone? because I don't see it. and i empathise with her a lot, but again, she's very weird with him. the guy is too much of a doormat, he's constant chasing her, and she's just... idk, i don't want to say anything harsh. but that guy is too good, he's just too good and it's hard to see him hurting so much. i wish she'd either actually fall for him(doesn't seem likely so far) or just makes it clear that she won't. because even if she "chooses" him, which this show is about, it seems, it'll be for "companionship," while jing wants her soul, her heart, he's really in love with her(which i cannot comprehend, just trying to understand it through him tbh).
"you know that if there wasn't something, i wouldn't have come to you," nah she's straight up using jing now. poor guy. he and xuan are my main characters.
[EP 10]it's kinda disappointing how the beginning of the first episode sets the tone for good design, aesthetics…
i find it confusing, why does xiaoyao care about xiangliu?? literally, why? he gave her 40 lashes on sight, threw her down from a tall tree, sucks her blood, threatens to cut her throat and doesn't show an ounce of kindness to her until much later(which i kinda like now). i mean, characters can be messed up but his behaviour lacks consistency and there isn't enough substance to justify his flat character.
i kinda feel like she goes to him because he is openly cruel to her, giving her no false hopes and promises, so it's easier for her to be with him as she knows that she won't be burdened by his non existent feelings(bc trust issues). she doesn't have to face her emotions with him, as they're both pretty avoidant and the relationship is transactional. plus, she has some π€π» feelings of attachment budding for shiqi which she's trying to supress. being with xiangliu seems to be a sort of escape from those feelings and her inner emptiness.
these emotions and dynamics are so complex and beautiful to explore but i wish they were portrayed better by the actors(just yang zi and the demon tbh, rest are great)and the production. :/ still, not bad.
