Well obviously, we're not talking about americans here. This is Mydramalist, a rating site for Asian shows, so the context here is asian show businesses, specifically South Korea since this show is korean.

I'm not sure you can call the rising stars of today unattractive. If there is any, can you name them? It's the opposite, as far as I can tell. They are mostly just pretty faces, the "unattractive" ones are the ones not getting the opportunities. And by the way I never said that they only have to be talented and that looks don't matter. The point is that there has to be a balance, but most people only focus on looks.
To each their own. There will always be a new saguek around the corner. The palace intrigue levels you're talking…
You’re right, those pretty, refined actresses would never be able to pull off Sejeong’s wacky acting as they’d be so conscious and worried that it would ruin their pretty, refined looks.
It’s the reason why you now have so many actors with pretty looks but subpar acting, because viewers only focus on looks rather than talent.
Why the rating a bit low here... for me the story is kinda good and this drama will getting more interest soon.…
It will eventually improve as more people come in to rate. It's starting to get traction, and there's so many good reviews all over socmed right now so far.
I actually liked that they already revealed the mystery about the crown princess in the first ep, it means that they have more up their sleeves, because writers that lack imagination almost always put that kind of plot twist in the middle. I mean, it's always been obvious from the synopsis alone that Dali is the crown princess, there's no use dragging that secret out for several eps. They could use the time to expand the plot and introduce fresh twists, and I hope they surprise us, make something revolutionary out of what seems like an already cliche story.
Started watching kdramas almost 10 yrs earlier than you, so I disagree that only newbies enjoyed it.
Well that's not the case for me and the many others I know who have been watching since early 2000s. Plot is not everything. You can have a good plot, but without good acting, chemistry, witty script, remarkable OSTs, etc, then your drama won't be as successful. And this show excelled in those areas. So even though this show is already a cliche for us who have been watching kdramas for a long time, it's still a standout.
One of the earliest posters to be released for this movie was literally an image of a sword, so I don't think people should be making too much fuss about the guns, I'm sure the swords will eventually show up in the movie, at least for Dokja and Joonghyuk.
After "Business Proposal" this is her third drama. The "Uncanny counter" second season had a legacy. But rest…
I understand your feelings. She will be doing a sageuk drama next year which is a bit different from the ones she had already done. Let's hope it will be a good one so she can receive much better scripts in the future.
