I completely respect your opinion, and I think everyone has their own way of experiencing and judging a series. Speaking for myself, though, I usually try not to let personal preferences or expectations influence my opinion too much. I tend to have rather high standards when it comes to the series I watch, and I’m not someone who is easily impressed or satisfied by just anything.
I’ve been a fan of BLs for over 15 years, and during that time I’ve read and watched all kinds of BL media: manga, anime, comics, books, fanfiction, dramas, and works from Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, and many other countries. I’ve gone through so many different series over the years that I feel I’ve developed a good sense of what makes something genuinely well-made, what is simply enjoyable to watch, and what may not work as well.
Whenever I start a new drama, I try to approach it with an open mind, regardless of who the actors, director, or other people involved are. I pay attention to different aspects of the production, such as the plot, writing, cinematography, sound design, and the actors’ performances. I’m by no means an expert, of course, but after watching dramas for so many years, I feel that I’ve learned to recognize the things that work particularly well for me, as well as the things that don’t.
And yes, based on my personal experience and taste, I genuinely consider Mr Fanboy a masterpiece for many reasons. First and foremost, I really love the plot and the themes it explores, as well as the way it chooses to explore them. The actors are great, the storytelling flows naturally, I absolutely love the sound design, and I think the series strikes a wonderful balance between emotionally impactful moments and scenes that genuinely make you laugh.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion, and I completely understand that other people may experience the same series differently. But based on what I’ve seen in these first four episodes, I genuinely think an exceptional job has been done, and I’m really impressed by what the series has managed to accomplish so far.

This series is a masterpiece and deserves so much more love 🥺❤️ But the ratings for the individual episodes have dropped massively (even for the unreleased episodes) 🥲

I haven’t been this obsessed with a drama in years, like I’m actually counting down until the next episode drops 😭 I really hope this series gets all the love and recognition it deserves ❤️

Yesterday, a page on X posted a MDL ranking in which Mr. Fanboy was rated as the best BL currently airing, followed by You Maniac. People started complaining that this couldn’t possibly be right because, despite having the same rating (8.7), You Maniac is being watched by many more people. The page even had to clarify that this was because, although fewer people are watching Mr. Fanboy, its ratings are higher on average

I wonder if these people have actually watched the episodes. Personally, if I haven’t seen something, I don’t judge it, regardless of anything else. But the fact that some people have already rated episodes that haven’t even been released yet, just to give them a low score, is honestly absurd

Episode 8 too, it deserves more than 9.1 😪
Also, I don't understand why people vote episodes before they are aired.
