WELCOME TO MY PROFILE

Update (2026): I gave up this dear hobby of mine in Lent 2023. It was really hard to give it up; I remember I even cried when I made the decision, but that made me realize (along with a long time without watching dramas) how this dear hobby really became an obsession, an idol in my life that really needed to be destroyed for me to grow.

Why? Basically, because it was the center of life; I would spend most of my free time watching dramas or participating here and there in discussions about them, or reading or streaming stuff from my favorite actors. And even worse, my mind during the whole day would be filled with this stuff too...

The Gospel of Matthew states, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also," At that time, my treasure was not God (as it should've been), my treasure and the place of my heart were in the C-drama world. That time during Lent without dramas made me realize that, and how it was affecting my spiritual and personal life. God needed to be my treasure and the place where my heart lay, not all this drama stuff.

I still love dramas very much, but after that Lent, they're not part of my daily life anymore; I'm not thinking about them day and night; I don't go to Youtube an watch a bunch of content of my current favorite drama actor anymore... All fruit from what I would call a "big drama detox".

Now, I just come back once a year to watch one drama during my vacation time (Yeah, right now, as I'm writing this, I'm on vacation).

Of course, dramas per se are not evil; however, just like any good thing in life, it needs to be done with temperance,

In 2016, I was randomly going through my Netflix home page when I came across my very first Asian drama, little did I know how that would change my life. Suddenly, I got introduced to an entirely new world filled with astonishing and touching stories.

In the beginning, I would watch one or another day... but as time was passing, I got more and more fond of the dramas and their stories, I would laugh, cry, get excited, and mad, I was living the story with the characters. So eventually this "One or another day" hobby became an "everyday" one. 

Dramas, especially Chinese ones,  are now part of my daily life. So as long as I have spare time, I'll be enjoying my everyday dose of them. 

嗨 | A little about me

My name is Anlly, I'm a native Spanish speaker, my second language is English (actually, I learned it thanks to dramas), and I'm currently studying Chinese to abandon subtitles. 

I started seriously chasing dramas back in 2020 when the pandemic started.  At first, I only watched modern dramas because I felt that costume ones were too angsty for my fragile heart. However, after watching One and Only, I entered a costume drama phase, so if you check what I'm currently watching or what I'm planning to watch, it will be mainly historical, xianxia, and wuxia dramas. I like it better because the characters are usually deeper and more complex than in modern ones, and I got a sea of different emotions. 

I'm also a medical student, so I'm constantly fighting with myself whether to watch the most recent episode of my favorite drama or to study for my upcoming exam. Tough choices, you know? The first option usually wins over the second one, so in the aftermath, I have to pay the price of my choices by waking up really early to study ᵟຶᴖ ᵟຶ.

About my ratings, I'm more a drama enthusiast than a critic. Though I'm considering updating all my ratings to what I feel each drama deserves, at the moment, if you check them and find a 10, it's because I genuinely liked and enjoyed the drama and thought it was really good; if it doesn't have a rating, it may be good, but it's just that I didn't connect as much with it as to give it a 10.

I appreciate all kinds of stuff in dramas but mainly life lessons, deep messages, heartfelt and intelligent characters with growth throughout the drama, balanced angst, excitement, bickering and humor, and healthy, understanding, and supportive relationships. So you'll see that many of my treasured favorite dramas fulfill the majority of these preferences:
