On My Idol, My Debut Apr 29, 2026
MBC Plus drama "My Idol, My Debut" has confirmed its casting centered around Ji Changmin (Q from THE BOYZ) and announced its full-scale launch as a youth music drama targeting a global fanbase.

"My Idol, My Debut" (directed by Han Keumbi, written by Choi Yeonsoo, produced by Minari Entertainment) is a time-slip coming-of-age story about a devoted fan who goes back 8 years to prevent a tragic accident, becomes an idol trainee, and tries to change fate.

In the drama, the boy group "Boy to the Moon" and girl group "Irion" begin as fictional teams within the story but will continue into real idol debuts with actual music releases and stage promotions. This structure, where the drama and K-pop activities run in parallel, is being attempted for the first time in Korea and is drawing attention as a new IP model combining content with the idol industry. It is aiming for a July premiere.

Q plays the central character "Han Jaeha," a key member of "Boy to the Moon." As a character with strong skills and star quality, he is expected to show both performance and a full growth arc, signaling an expansion of his acting range.

Lee Jinhyuk joins as "Ethan," a member from Canada, forming a core axis of the team alongside Q. Known for building presence through various works, he is expected to strengthen the drama with stable acting. Lee Jinkyu and Lee Hohyun take on the roles of "Kayden" and "Eunho," adding to the team’s story and chemistry.

The girl group "Irion" lineup also stands out. Hwang Jia is cast as the protagonist "Choi Aeni," leading the central story. As a character who becomes an idol trainee to change her fate, she is expected to show a new side based on her detailed emotional acting.

Nana of WOOAH plays "Aji," the team's energy source. With her trendy image and bright charm along with her acting experience, she is expected to deliver strong character expression.

Kaede of tripleS joins as "Karin," adding fresh presence aimed at a global fandom.

In addition, rookie Mexican actress AISA joins "Irion," bringing unique charm and new energy. Her pre-debut interview video reached about 10 million views and earned her the nickname "Mexican Little Mermaid," raising expectations for her activities through this project.

Meanwhile, "My Idol, My Debut" plans to release major content in sequence as it prepares for a July broadcast.

Producers decide who advances. Viewers decide who goes home.if you're good enough, you can get into final even…
yes, they focus to debut one group, but i know there's a show that debut 2 groups (boys and girls each) in KBS The Unit (2017), or Mnet Boys Planet (first season) debut another group separately (Evnne), but it's special case, and Boys II Planet (second season) will debut another group thru spin-off show (currently airing)
are you watching this because of the hip hop part or idol/music survival in general? i would recommend SBS Universe Ticket and MBC My Teenage Girl

my first time watching and I was wondering if this is just a popularity contest… I don’t understand the ranking.

if you're good enough, you can get into final even you're not popular (but maybe still won't make into winners lineup), but if you're talking about ranking only, yes it is popularity contest
