I don't understand. What even was the point of the mother's story. Did I miss something? Why was she kidnapped?…
The mother's story is still going on in the novel, it just hasn't been adapted into the drama due to the short duration. If there's a S2, it can go more into about YH and YW finding out what happened to YW's mother.

Rememeber WYEL? Since it's the same director, there are some similarities. It might even be in the same universe too.

Han Tae Joo (WYEL) and Han Ji Woo (To My Star), they have the same surname.
Kang Gook (WYEL) and Kang Seojun (To My Star), they have the same surname as well.
Kim Pil Hyun is the same person from WYEL. But I think this story takes place in the future though, since there are references to WYEL like the chocolate milk, and he's now the CEO.
