That does not even make any sense. They are corrupt and all about money, so they are not airing a drama that they spent money on making and that would bring them 10 times as much? You do understand that this drama not airing only hurts producers and sponsors, not actors? Yang Zi is an established actress that has been in the industry for years and XZ's career is on the up and up. It airs or it doesn't, this drama needs them, not the other way around.

At first it was postponed because of the cyberbullying against lead actor, attempt at canceling him all that jazz. They could not air it because the internet mob was rallying against him. It stabilized at the end of last year and got progressively better during 2021. They decided to air his other drama (Duoluo continent) first and by the time they got to this one, c-ent government crackdown started and Hunan satellite (that was supposed to air it along with Tencent) went under investigation and had to rearrange it's schedule to include a patriotic drama.

It's not like it would the first time a c-drama had aired without much of a forewarning :) Them announcing the previous date so far ahead, was actually out of ordinary . It's still possible that they sold it of course, but with the investigation and big name hosts leaving Hunan's variety shows, it seem like this drama is exactly the magic pill that they need to boost the ratings.
And, no, I personally, don't think that there's some kind of childish attempt to bury the drama on their part. Even if OOL never airs, XZ will not actually be affected - he already did his part and moved on. Hunan, on the other hand, will be loosing the money they spent on making it and putting a guarantied hit down the drain.

Mango announced their dramas for 2022. OOL is not on the list. So either they sold the rights (which is possible, but kind of like shooting themselves in the leg, unless they were forced to do it) or it will air in 2021.

It's not just him. It is the same for every actor who's listed by their English name. Try searching Yang Zi and you won't find her either, cause she's listed as Andy Yang now. I literally did a double take when I saw that.

I'd say AMA is 50/50 romance and political plots. I didn't finish it, but more for my own personal preferences, it was pretty interesting actually. And if it's any help, romace there is not like in modern dramas, more of a slow burn, while characters deal with political plots and civil unrest in the country.

I think the comparison to XZ is not exactly fitting here. XZ was never banned and more importantly his situation wasn't political. So for XZ it was just waiting for the public opinion to die down and he was actually supported by the government in his return (Heroes in harm's way). Whereas ZZH, unfortunately, is banned by the government, which from my understanding, is basically a career suicide in China.

I actually thought that the severity of his punishment might have to do with his management, I mean with the speed of her ban, she Vicky Zhao was probably on the black list long before it became official. And if it's true, then it's political and that means it's even more unlikely that he'll be able to come back. Poor guy really got the worst of luck having this brought up to the public at the worst possible moment, e.g. entertainment clean up.

In the description it does mention romance, but if I had to guess (from the trailer and the order of the leads), it's likely more of a background thing to go along with friendship, military and patriotic themes. It seem like it would be more brothers in arms, rather than the love triangle like Arsenal Military Academy
