I believe that is the case and the last few episodes have been hinting at that. Someone is working behind the scenes to make them look like the bad guys, members of their gang are traitors and working with the real bad guys. They are the ones killing off entire sects and leaders not under orders of the boss but of the big bad. This reminds me of Crazy Yan's story. He was a great leader, powerful and then someone schemed and killed his brother, kidnapped his sister and he went on a revenge spree. The other sects and Power gang got together to try and take him down under the assumption he had gone rouge and no longer was fit to have the token. But he was targeted for the token as it is happening again but now the Power Gang is the one they are making it seem have gone rouge and gone too far. This was backed up by that crazy guy in the monk's temple. He had been promised fame and glory if he stood up against Crazy Yan but instead was marked a traitor and tortured by Crazy Yan.
Im rewatching first episodes and guess what? I like them even more than at the first time🤭❤️
Same. I am taking it slow this time, rewatching 2-3 episodes per day to help me cope with the wait. I have been able to really enjoy them so much more and what seemed a bit off doesn't anymore. I really do miss his early goofy modern day references though like the fits pump and high five.
Episode 21 revealed so much and I know a lot of people had already picked up on it but it is finally hitting me. lol
Here's my summary so far, the Power Gang as some have addressed it as the much needed bad is not that bad. They are trying to be the checks and balance of these righteous sects that aren't that righteous. I think they are trying to have all the sects planted with the insects to keep them from betraying everyone and finally fighting the Northerners as a whole and not for a bad reason Their methods might be a bit strong and direct. This can be seen in their gang members, but all that has managed to accomplish is them scheming with others to get their own members killed since they can't do it themselves.
The gang being seen in a bad way is due to the traitors doing bad things against their gang code and working with the Northerners as the bad guy in the beginning was. They all are working together it seems and being spies by being in the gang. The sects working with the spies are all working together to give the gang a bad reputation and have an excuse to attack them. Before they were being kept in check by the fear of the gang. The reason they all keep going after LSF is because he is loyal to a fault to the boss and they want to alienate the boss and overtake him so the North can take over and win the war.
Not sure if the hooded figure is playing with this chaos or causing all of it. But we know it is for his own gain that he wants to kill good and bad, traitors and good guys. I hope XQS finds this out quick and joins hands with the Power Gang to take down the real bad guys.
Another side note: I think someone had mentioned that the boss might be our ML coming back as another character, that would be kind of cool and give a really good explanation as to why they look alike. Imagine if he did come back as him but couldn't reveal the truth like now and is trying his best to make things right. But I am totally cool with that not being the case either, he is still so gorgeous to look at.

When he first arrived his original self hadn't learned that much and when he tried to hide that kicked in a reset. He came back a bit later and his original self had learned more thus he woke up with all the sect member practicing and greeting him. When he was choking on the fishing line his body went into auto mode and remembered the skills the original owner had learned. And then add that his four friends held the bad guy in place to allow him the final killing blow. Also it is mentioned that before XQS arrived in this world his original self had already taken some bad guys down, the friends of the four fools that recovered dead bodies, with his friends and liked to go after the bigger bad guy on his own.

I don't think he loves anyone. He admires his boss's wife and his boss too much. He rejected Red Phoenix medicine and took his boss's wife medicine that was the same instead. I really disliked that scene. It goes to show the brother is too entitled and doesn't see anyone below his level as human. Dramas tend to try out different looks and styles even during shooting. Hwarang (KDrama) had 2 different hair styles constantly changed on the ML over and over. When he was asked , he said they couldn't decide which hair style looked best on him. I don't think the hair style matters that much really. Do love the beautiful outfits he gets though.
