Speechless

I am very disappointed in this Cdrama. I felt like I wasted my time watching it all the way to the end.

Let me start with the positives. To me the only real standout for this series was 'Gun God' and his whole team. The were very relatable, funny, dramatic and their acting skills were up to the task. I also enjoyed how their characters where well developed, especially Gun God with his very detailed character background.

Apart from this the rest was a complete flop. The main character Squid was useless and they probably only had this character in the series to create a romance storyline, There was no depth to her character and she did not offer any value to the series. Also what annoyed me so much about her was that she is supposedly a genius that started university at 15 double majoring in AI and Cyber Security and yet she couldn't understand what the game was all about (it was literally about cyber security hacking servers and blocking intrusions).

I would have expected her to actually contribute in some way to the teams success since she was supposed to be an expert in the field (all she did was create a stupid game with pepa pig).

Don't even get me started on her insane stalker vibes (you can actually get a criminal record for doing the stuff she did). The whole series she was stalking the living daylight out of our male lead and when he finally proposes she said no? that made no sense at all. There was a part somewhere in the last few episodes where someone tells her that she has no personality and that was the most accurate description.

Now for the fillers - It gave me flashbacks of trying to watch Naruto where there was just so many senseless episodes and an insane amount of flashbacks. If they had to cut all the BS from this series we would have probably ended up with about 31 episodes of a series that was better paced and edited.

Overall I wouldn't watch this series again (only watch it if you have nothing else to watch)and in terms of comparing it to other Cdramas i've recently watched in E-Sports genre it is lacking it every aspect.

I have mixed feelings about this series

I'll start with what I did not like.

The editing was very sloppy and let the down the series. Where the series was supposed to be a bit more fast paced it was so slow that it felt extremely dragged out and the parts that was supposed to be a build up was cut short. I felt very disconnected for a lot of the series and couldn't really get emotionally invested in the characters (apart from Bank and Pitch).

The acting was also a hit and miss through out. some parts were great and other parts was like i'm watching newbies act. This could also be due to the chemistry between our leads was not so great. It felt forced and awkward (not sure who the actor is that played Sun but I actually liked his acting and the way he portrayed his character ... it was very consistent through out).

The two girls. Not sure what their part was in this apart from Sky trying to use the one to my Sun jealous but other than that they were of no value especially the part where the one chick was crying when Sun said he loved Sky. Like seriously the guy has not expressed a single ounce of affection towards you so why cry or be shocked when he doesn't like you. That was wasted air time that could have been used to iron out other parts that could have added value to the main storyline.

What I did like:

Bank and Pitch - their chemistry was great and they brought something (comedy, romance, fun and a breath of fresh air among all the drama) to the series that I didn't realised I needed until I finished the series. Their acting was also very well suited for the roles that they had.

I actually liked the storyline. Not the most original but it was a bit of a different take on this trope and I really appreciated that most of the series took place of campus (well all of the action and romance parts).

Just realised that I don't have as many likes that I thought when I started writing this review. Overall it wasn't a complete disaster like some other BL's that I didn't even bother finishing so that is already a win for this series. I will defs be rewatching (I think this series has great rewatch potential because it is light and does not require the viewer to pay a lot of attention. Great to watch as you are in bed waiting to fall asleep) this series to see if things make a bit more sense now that I have the big picture

Into the E-S[ort Universe

I think overall this was not a bad series. There was a lot to like about this, great cast, fantastic genre and a really good storyline.

Having said that there was also quite a few issues that really had me scratching my head as I did not understand what the purpose was. Like the conflict between Cat and K, like what was that about?? It came out of left field with no build up and then boom just like that it was resolved and as a viewer we were never made aware of what actually happened. Also the episode where everyone was just randomly crying also made no sense. These are just two examples of many. I think it was more to do with the editing that cut important scenes as I am sure it would have covered it otherwise.

If I were to compare this series with King's Avatar and Love Scenery I would say that it takes third place as the other two did really outstanding jobs with the whole character development of all the leads and support cast.

I would however recommend that people watch this since it was fun and light and full of gooey moments that had me cringing in all the right ways.

Applause!

This is going to be a pretty short review as I don't think there is to much to say about You are my Glory.

The series was very good. I went into this not really expecting to much since I felt that it was an over used story trope, however, I was pleasantly surprised on the twist to this genre (I originally thought it would be more focused on E-sports as this is the genre that I have recently been into) and the way the story unfolded.

What I really enjoyed the most was how relatable the characters where and how consistent they were with keeping the core values of each of our leads and not having them change in such a way that they become totally different people or give up on their dreams for one another. I also liked how the our male lead went from being not confident and almost depressed to finally accepting his worth and finding the happiness he thought he didn't deserve.

Overall the pacing and editing was brilliant. Often times with series that have short runtime for each episode make some really bad editing choices and that would affect the pacing of each scene. I felt that not once during the series did I feel confused or disconnected from the flow which really allowed me to immerse myself into the world that was being created and invest in the characters.

I would recommend that this is a must watch series.

Once again we get a series showing that Korean BL series are in it to win it. Really love how Korea is coming up with really solid storylines and a great cast to back it up time and time again.

Light on me was a very decadent coming of age BL story that I found refreshing and very nerve-wrecking to watch because for the most of the series it looked more and more like my ship was going to go down like the Titanic only for things to pull together in the last two episodes.

The pacing on this was outstanding. Not once did I feel that certain scenes where being rushed or cut short in a way that broke the emotional investment I had as a viewer and what I appreciated the most is that all the characters brought something to the overall story so there was no wasted airtime that often happens in series were supporting characters come in that has no value.

characterization and developments was also on point. Often times we find character personalities change and not in favor of the character. In Light of me it was the opposite. Each character grew but still maintained their overall personalities (like the kiss between Shin Woo and Tae Kyung at the end. It was slightly awkward and Shin Woo displayed his nervousness and uncertainty which has been a core trait of his. I love that he kept this and not changed into an over confident person now that he is in a relationship).

Going to throw this out there, I really did not like Da On (just the character - the actor did a great job bring Da On to live), from episode 1 I felt him to be a bit of a player trying to please everyone (which was later addressed) and I was rooting for him not to end up with Tae (my heart nearly stopped when things looked like things might go his way). Having said that, I really hope that he does get an happy ending (here is hoping for a second season) and that he can finally fully except himself as being enough.

I really enjoyed this series and would definitely be watching it again.

Seriously considering dropping this

So I am 6 episodes into this series and already I feel like I want to pull my hair out and virtually knock some common sense into these characters.

What annoys me the most is the way the wrote these characters to be completely senseless, ignorant and just plain stupid. Like stuff like this doesn't happen IRL. Like how do you not notice someone messing about on your PC and then not connect the dots as tho the fabricated footage that is released. Or how can you not suspect the manager for being up to something since in each episode he has deliberately tried screwing you over especially with all the smirking he does in the meetings (and as a president of the company... doesn't he find it suspicious that that this version of the recording is released just after discussing and who should be TL for the team?? like really now).

Each character is annoying in terms of just being so self absorbed and non nonsensical. I had high hopes but if things do not get better by episode 10 im dropping this series since right now my blood is boiling.
