IT`S ME I`M THE AUDIENCE

I saw many conflicting takes on Twitter yesterday, which I was expecting. Even I yoyo between how I feel every ten minutes or so. But not in regards to Ah Jin. Her attitude, for me at least, has been very consistent. First, I don`t think she had romantic feelings for In Gang let`s get that out of the way. I do think she had a feeling of kinship in a way, for how similar their childhoods seem to have been. Also, because of his grandmother. I now conclude that, in Ah Jin`s mind, she was freeing In Gang by breaking up, she could have been so much worse. His past and his grandmother showing concern and care for Ah Jin, when no one else did, contributed to Ah Jin acting this way. ESPECIALLY, when you compare it to what Ah Jin says about Jun Seo`s mother`s fake kindness. Her laugh feels both sad and ironic, because the only person who showed some form of familial love and care, was taken away in an instant, in front of her eyes. And she had nothing to do with it(which I don`t even think she accepts, as outside the operation room she said `all my fault`).

Secondly, there`s also the aspect of Jun Seo fundamentally misunderstanding her during these two episodes. Mind you, I don`t particularly blame him for he has his own set of problems. But he does fundamentally misunderstands her and I think, even sort of fails a bit in her eyes. In her own way, I do think Ah Jin cherishes him. I think she cherishes Jae Oh too, but less so, despite his boundless devotion.

Finally, the one of the writers of this show is very interesting, if you take a look at their previous projects. Why? Because there is, for me the most fascinating part of the dichotomy between In Gang`s d*ath and Ah Jin being blamed for it by his fans. How quick it is and what it says about how the industry, and by extension, fandoms view female celebs in comparison to their male counterparts. Despite it being known that In Gang had depression, was possibly an alcoholic, had a rough past, everyone`s minds immediately jump to - Ah Jin is to blame. It is such an interesting commentary, despite its brevity, of being a commodity in the industry, as a woman.

Exactly,this next pick could make or break her in terms of the roles she could get from then on. If it wasn`t the very next drama after My Dearest,I`d be for it. As it is however...

For sure I think Eun sook can write a worthy side character,but I think what people are referring to is that this could be a potential trap. Ahn Eun Jin has had so many great side roles,but it`d be a bit insulting(after My Dearest) playing kind of a second fiddle to Suzy(who is fine in her own right). If it was another actor or actress,upcoming,I`d be all for it. But for Ahn Eun Jin,I unfortunately think she should reject this offer in favor of another main role.

I`ve seen great actors and actresses getting locked into side characters only and I don`t want this for Ahn Eun Jin. I think it`d be better if she was a villain even,just not a side character.

Some say she`ll be a side character,which,if it was a different actress or actor I`d be okay with but Ahn Eun Jin has done SO many side character roles(beautifully might I add) that I`m afraid if she accepts they`ll downgrade her to that category forever. I personally think she`s too talented(proven with My Dearest) to really be a side character again whilst some actors who don`t have even a small amount of the talent she possesses get lead roles again and again.

I like this writer fine but I`d choose a different actress,maybe a newcomer or someone who`s starting out and has a lot of talent. Ahn Eun Jin deserves better.

Gil Chae is for real the best female lead we got this year and her chemistry with Jang Hyun was INSANE. I wish we`d gotten all 30 episodes, but this is,in my personal opinion,best sageuk I`ve seen.

It`s funny you compared this to It`s Okay to Not be Okay because the very first thought I had watching this was `Wow,the way they handle mental health really reminds me of It`s Okay to Not be Okay`. In the way they decide to portray it I think. I`m still only halfway through,but in dramas about mental health I find I`m not always the biggest fan of how out-of-this-world the disorders seem. Like it looks cool and engaging,must`ve taken a lot of time,but there is that disconnect for me.

This is extremely true for me,especially when it comes to KDramas. Some of the highest rated ones are dramas I`d personally rate now below 7,or even 6.

Our Beloved Summer`s main selling point are the two leads,but they just struck me as siblings(it doesn`t help that Da Mi and Woo Shik look alike either),Vincenzo is just too long and too bland,Move to Heaven felt very emotionally manipulative to me,Alchemy of Souls 2 has garbage writing and ruins what is otherwise an interesting concept,CLOY is just 70% tearful goodbyes and 30% your typical love story. The list goes on.

Sometimes I can see why a drama got popular,sometimes it just makes no sense to me,but taste is subjective. Hype definitely affects me negatively in most cases though,and I`ll go years without ever taking a look at some popular dramas. Great editorial!

I`d honestly settle for even more episodes,I just love these characters

That`s cool,for me they just completely missed the overall vibe of the webtoon and the acting was very subpar.

I get what he`s saying in terms of him exercising his acting muscles because,usually,character studies feel most natural in slice of life media. However,he`s definitely more suited to action and morally gray characters. Perfect example is him in dramas like Empress Ki and The Worst of Evil(where he`s great) and The Sound of Magic(one of his worse roles,that whole drama is a miss,especially if you`ve read the webtoon).

I think his opinion might change with time because I`d really like him to take on darker roles in general.

You don`t understand how hyped I am to see our moonlight couple again gang! ✨

I dropped this drama but I might pick it back up just for the side characters. My issue that`s mainly in regards to the main couple:I don`t wanna see the past of a couple who obviously didn`t belong together. They were like siblings. This forceful tension they kept trying to enforce just kept me going:Oh,I wish this ended with y`all broken up and maturing as adults. It didn`t make me rethink that at all. Hell,this drama`s romance makes Itaewon Class seem more heartwarming😂

This drama is great so far,holy hell! One of the best cop dramas I`ve seen in some time

I really couldn't tell you why this drama needed a second season because...I feel like it really didn`t. I`ll be watching it but the first season was okay all on its own

I`m down for this cast and Japan(if anyone) is the best choice for an adaptation. I love the original so much(best law drama and one of the best KDramas in my opinion),so I`m cautiously optimistic about this.
