If you think about it, the reason the comment section here has fewer comments compared to In Bloosom (which I am also enjoying) iis not far fetched. First of all, most people don't like republican series as it's not always as interesting as Wuxia/xianxia/modern dramas. Secondly, the story itself is not something someone will randomly pick up especially as it has propaganda to it. I mean, most of us here in the comment section are watching it or we got drawn to it because of Yibo.
That might be true for Dilraba because the Prosecution Elite of hers was different from what she would normally act in. As a fan, I was surprised that she'll take on such a role but nevertheless, I still watched it and if you check it out on this forum, you'll see that the comments and ratings is low compared to her other shows.
But compared to her "propaganda" series and Yibo's "propaganda" series, she can easily break out from that kind of narrative. With Yibo, it seems like they are gradually molding him into a tool. It's sad really but I am pretty sure he's okay with it because if he's not, I don't see why he'll be churning out the same line of story every time.
And yes, I hope he doesn't end up with zhehan because I am still heartbroken because of that. my poor baby 🥺

I feel like it's more like he is trying to get a strong foothold like I said. Being someone who got his major breakthrough from a queer drama and given the fact that China is not supportive of the genre, it might also look like he's trying to distance hinds from that role like you said.
It's now very obvious to me that Yibo is on a mission. It seems like when it comes to choosing films to act, he is much more Interested in roles that portray China in good light. Those kind of stories that shows when China fought against colonial rule or stories that highlight China's strength. These kind of roles does not appeal to majority of international fans but it doesn't really matter because for a Chinese actor, if you're not relevant in China, your international fame does not really matter that much. So my guess is that he's trying to establish a stable and strong foothold by playing these roles that always sweeps awards at end of the year award shows. You know, those shows that grabs the CCP's attention, the ones you'll see on weibo with positive comments under it.
