Not realistic romance
I love love romance dramas but the good ones which give you butterflies are so few in between. Taiwanese dramas have quite a few of these, best one being MARS. The main problem with this drama is that the actors aren’t actually experienced in doing romance scenes and so they are not actually good at kissing or any romantic gestures. FL is especially bad and I suppose it’s due to her age. I mean if they want to make something romantic, find leads who can do them well (recent Taiwanese I watched, The Way You Shine, have great ML and FL who do believable romance scenes. I like Leo Wu and Zhao Jinmai, but they are so inexperienced in love scenes, it’s Ike watching kids playing role play. ??♀️. Even Wang Xingyue (he plays Yin Guy’s brother), who is a few years younger than Leo Wu is a much better and more natural kisser than Leo Wu (in his early drama First Love).Some other review mentioned Hidden Love. Yes, romance is definitely better here, though still not deep like the good Taiwanese ones.
Worst for this drama, story is quite boring too. The only thing I love about the drama is the OSTs. They are so many beautiful songs.

Cute story and Mike He and Rainie Yang are just so cute together!
I watched this drama after I watched Bull Fighting, the first Mike He drama I watched. I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. This is my first Rainie Yang drama. This one is definitely better than Bill Fighting, lots more kisses here and Mike He, how could anyone resist his smile? ?I got a little annoyed when someone unexpectedly showed up to try to break them apart but this situation is quickly resolved.
Love how Ahmo told his grandmother how label doesn’t matter and what matters is what’s already inside his heart. Then later he told Qi Yue that he’ll only her in his lifetime. Awww.
Rainie and Mike interaction as bf/gf are just so cute, especially in last episode. ???

Highly entertaining show
I originally watched this show for Mark Chao and Vic Chou and had no expectation at all. I had watched Mark’s Eternal Love Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms and Vic’s The Flame’s Daughter. Interestingly, Vic’s character Chen Tsai Tien is like his character from The Flame’s daughter, they wear white most of the time and also quite comical/joking around type. Mark’s character isn’t this is like his character from Eternal Love, they wear black most of the time and and very serious.In the beginning, I thought the show was very lighthearted and funny. It got a little more serious and dramatic in the middle part. The last part is full of suspense and thrilling action.
If you are looking for romance, there is some but it’s not the main theme of the show. Moral of the story from the show is that not everything is black or white as they seem, a lot of things are in the gray area.
All in all, very entertaining watch, highly recommend!

Very entertaining watch
My first time watching Jerry Yan and I started both Forbidden Flower and this one at the same time. He is ?? in the Forbidden Flower and he is so cute and hilarious in this one! Especially when he is trying to learn magic or when he is jealous, LOL ???I love old Taiwanese shows and this is one of those silly, cute and so funny!
Nice way to wind down after a long day of work.

My favorite drama
One of the best Chinese fantasy dramas I have watched. No wonder it’s still one of the most watched. Superb cinematography, acting (especially Mark Chao), and beautiful OSTs (50+ pieces of music). Heartwarming love story balanced with funny moments, especially when little Ah-Li are on screen, he’s just so cute and smart! Mark Chao made Ye Hua character so amazing and give us all the feels.When watching this drama, don’t be discouraged by the pace of episodes 1-10. If you bail before episode 10, then who would have missed the best godly male character in the whole cdramas, Ye Hua.
This drama really is the Ye Hua show, one who is fiercely dedicated to the one and only girl he ever loves. The only drama where ML doesn’t ever fall for the scheming of the other ladies wanting his affection. The only drama where the ML is truly dedicated to his love and shows it whenever he can. The only drama where the ML shows his vulnerabilities more than FL when it comes to his feelings. Oh, no shortages of skinship here. Mark Chao is also the best kisser in the cdramaland, in the best way. All other Chinese actors should take note.
I don’t care at all for the 2nd couple, Feng Jiu and Dong Hua, feel free to skip and it doesn’t ruin the enjoyment of watching this drama.
I love all other characters, Mo Yuan, Zhe Yan, 4th brother, Mi Gu and Ah-Li! They are just so endearing. This drama also has the best hair, compared to the other costume dramas. ?
I really enjoyed this drama, highly recommended.

Old but so good!
Watched this drama because of Vic Chou and without any expectations. Wow, I am so surprised at how good this drama is. The romance is so intensely passionate and sweet while the drama tackle all the dark themes still relevant today — mental health, suicides, rape, sexual harassment. Vic Chou and Barbie Hsu have amazing chemistry together and both act so well in this. This is my most favorite Vic Chou drama so far. Don’t mind the quality of the videos since it’s from 2004, but the story and acting touch your heart. ❤️?Was this review helpful to you?
Very entertaining watch
I didn’t expect much from this drama as I was in the middle of watching Goodbye My Princess and found it hard to get thru the heartbreaking scenes. To my surprise, I really enjoyed this drama as it’s quite different from the others. The FL is very smart and she initiates things with ML and together, they are a force to be reckoned with. Chen Xing Xu, what can I say? He is one of the best cdrama actors there is and basically Carrie’s whole drama. This dramas has so many sweet moments between the leads (no fake kisses especially from the FL like many cdramas FLs!) and lots of funny moments as well.
