Thats because the writer didn't spent time developing the psychiatrist character.

DID in itself is a complex diagnosis. The actress looks young and anyone her age who has the confidence to do this diagnosis and think she can manage this herself is delusional. You need a senior doctor to case manage EH. The sessions itself were laughable.

The writer went with this plot and thought it was more ratings- worthy to only do it with the 3 main actors plus 1 minor character.

Even I notice how much scene time was devoted to the main leads. I have no idea what was going through the writer's mind.

I think the terms toxic and abusive relationship says it all.

There have been some short Cdramas that popped up on my YT newsfeed. The FL are slapped, abused and assaulted. And I remember being appalled this was being filmed.

Then there is this drama. An 8 year relationship and all its glory. I say that because the episode 1 introduction was highly disturbing. Their relationship wasn't normal.

And then we have ep 10.

Wowzer.

I am going to have to watch another drama to scrub my brain after this ends. Just to make sure I don't recall this.

Yes well that's why I decided to stop at ep 8 last week and watch ep 9-12 at once next week. Save myself some angst.

I like the cast. I really do but the story is heavy. Its not a good heavy topic hut a shit- laden pile of rotting carcass from bad writing.

Korean dramas can have improbable and outlandish plots but it can be saved by good writing. I remember one drama which had a medical condition. It was rare and outlandish but the writing wasn't that bad. I think it was " Dr John." Its not my favourite drama; neither was it memorable. However it was ok because the writing was acceptable and the acting so good.

Here? The main FL is good. The 2 male leads who can act are acting but they are bland. The chief is good. Yeah. Thats about it.

All mental health issues are concerning. However no mental health issues I know of has been cured within a short period of time.

Her character has DID but both male characters have abandonment issues and all 3 have complex MH issues.

Personally, i think the writer bit off more than she could chew by writing such complicated issues. Quite badly.

For the sake of the Koren audience I hope they write a realistic ending in which nothing is resolved for all 3 of them. The best I can hope is that they find a good psychiatrist each. The casting director could have hired an older actress. Having that fresh faced junior doctor faced actress just makes this drama even more a farce.

I am still watching because of the cast. Not because of the writing.

O m g. Really? Thanks for the heads up. I am on ep 39. Might give it a few days before starting this so my memories are intact for each drama. I binged watched You are my friend lover then went back to Are you the one? So didn't want to spoil my streck of watchable drama. I might go do some work related reading then so I have a drama break. The Rise of Ning doesn't seem to frustrate you guys so that's promising.

I haven't even looked at Kill Me Love Me. I am on ep 39 of the other drama so am ready for Rise of Ning.

I am finishing off ep 17- 40 Are you the one? With Zhang Wan Yi. He looks exactly the same here as in the other drama.

Should I start watching it now or wait till it almost ends? How's the writing? I have no qualms about the acting. The cast can act. I just didn't want sloppy or lazy or nonsensical writing?

I was a bit frustrated watching " Are you the one? " however seem to be enjoying it from ep 17- 40 when I can see the flow of the story. So wondering if The rise of Ning is well written etc.? After all its finished ep 20.

This is how it rolls in Kdramas. If its nonsensical, lack sympathy, reused trope, emotionally damaging, has lack of communication and secrets? Then yeah its a Kdrama. Add on more violence from parents? And blame? So much blame? Add that to a Cdrama

Eh? He didn't communicate and kept secrets. Brutal break up.

All standard behaviours from real life pricks. However ifs not s criminal offence. They are emotionally dysfunctional yes but he did no crime. He shouldn't have done what he did but his emotions got in the way of his resolutions to look after the women by himself. I am not saying its right but people do it in real life. Don't give the partner an option.

My mistake. I just saw the writer's works. Now i don't expect a happy ending.⁹

I just watched ep 1-8. What the heck am I watching again?

I am not supporting any of the male leads. All 3 are dysfunctional.

Are we even having a happy ending? How did the marriage talk leak all the way to work?

I do not see how any of them can be together. There is no couple pairing that works. None that screams in love, happiness and new family.

Addit- I just read the comments. JHO is fine. Just because he's not loud or domineering or needy doesn't mean he's bland.

Was it the same writer or you just ranting in general.

The consort or concubines have ranks.- bin. Then their name is changed- the one before- bin. The court ladies have ranks too.

didn't
listen to
too
much
but was
reading some of
the
names
on
screen.
Saguek dramas are too much for me but the general Netflix translations is what leads to confusion because if you listen the importance of the ranks for the Princes is in their name. Why do I know? Back in the dim past when I had too much time doing some translation help I bloody well had to read up the ranks for the royal family. That was an interesting cultural lesson in itself as it explains who everyone was just based on what they were called.



I am not a saguek drama followers. I have been meaning to start this drama based on the reviews.

Its a slow burn tomance. Jumping to ep 22 will spoil the story.

I just finished ep 1. She has a PhD and the synopsis said she is a bank teller?

She's got a casual style about her. I won't like the plots of the dramas she is on. However she made me like her characters so much I have ended up rewatching her dramas.

Its her voice too. She isn't shrill. I hate loud screeching or whiney women
