She didn't kill just because she was depressed and took revenge for her mother. If she had a normal and healthy childhood, or lived with her mother. She would have still killed if she had faced the slightest inconvenience in life and become depressed. Mostly, people become psychiatrists who have experienced childhood trauma and want to know themselves better. That was her case too. She convinced herself she was taking revenge and cleaning society. Those are false hopes that eventually engulfed her. Because after that, she had no purpose. She would have no other excuse to kill.
If you have watched "Mouse", you would know that for psychopaths, the first kill is enough to be addicted to murder, and the taste & smell of blood is like a drug. Nothing could have stopped her from being a serial killer. The victims would be different, but she would still be the killer.
