Beautiful, must-watch, truly amazing drama!!

This drama is so beautiful, that I do not know if I have enough words to describe it. It has serious moments, funny moments, romantic moments, and cute moments, it truly is a great story and the actors have done an exceptional job in portraying the character. This drama is sure to be a standout for years to come.

Yashiro and Kenta are childhood friends when Yashiro realizes he has romantic feelings for Kenta. After making 100 shrine visits, Yashiro builds up to courage to confess his feelings to Kenta. Unfortunately, Kenta does not see Yashiro the same as he has only ever dated women but still wants to remain best friends. An accident happens and Yashiro, in the heat of the moment wished that he was a woman so that he and Kenta could be together. The shrine God grants him this wish and his soul is now in the body of another girl, Kagura. Later on, Yashiro in Kagura's body is doing his best to get close to Kenta, as he does not know that Yashiro is in Kagura's body. As Yashiro is getting closer to Kenta, Kenta's ex-girlfriend, Rin, is keeping an eye on the two.

This all plays out in Episode 1 and I will not spoil anything longer as the series does an insanely good job at making the viewers watch on the edge of their seats all throughout. The way the characters' relationships grow steadily is satisfying to watch and I really wish there was more of it as I just love them all so much, even though there are already 8 episodes of 40 minutes. No stone is left unturned, there are no unnecessary side characters that eat up time, and the story is complete in its run time.

The acting of all characters was amazing, Yashiro is natural in his own body and you really feel like he is in Kagura's body when they are two different actors. Kenta is steadfast in his friendship with Yashiro, and as a flirty handsome student, he is truly a treat. Rin is insane, maybe my favorite of the show. She starts off super intimidating with her overly friendly cool and pretty popular girl aura, but you discover the substance really of her character quickly. A wonderful friend, I need her in my life. Lastly, Kagura is friendly and kind, but a little quirky and was seen as a weirdo for most of her life. In the story, she is a kind soul that asks a lot of questions, has big dreams, and has few worries.

Do yourself a favor and watch this as soon as possible. You will not regret it. It has a great mix of BL, GL, bisexuality, and friendship themes, as well as a variety of values that are portrayed. One small regret is that there are no kiss scenes (apart from one in the end which is from a mile away), but as they are high school students in the drama and they are 18 in real life, I can understand it. It's not about the kiss, it's about the feelings and bonds, which you can truly feel (but I do love a good kiss). I am personally looking forward to seeing more from all of the actors and from Japanese BLs in general. Thank you to all the staff and creators of this drama, it truly was extraordinary.

Short and kinda sweet?

This BL can be summed up as two extremely good-looking actors being comfortable with each other and kissing. The kissing is amazing, and there is a lot of tension between the two. It is by no means a great BL but it's short and to the point. I like that the two don't just like each other but they make each other grow. The story is interesting but takes itself a little too seriously. Overall, I wish for the actors to get better at acting and to see them more.

The story is about a tailor who is tasked with making the best suit for a rich young man, but there is tension between the two families. So it doesn't go so smoothly. Slowly but surely they catch feelings for each other. I expected Nawee to catch them faster than Aioun, but it seems that Aioun is more firm in his feelings and wants to make it a thing. Watch this if you are looking for something filler, with decent characters and good kissing and shirtless scenes.

Easily the best Korean BL as of now

Blueming is a story of lookism, where someone's looks determine how they are treated. We see this as Siwon is being treated terribly at a young age when he is fat, and everyone likes him in the present when he is fit. Enter Dawoon, someone even more handsome and liked than anyone else. Dawoon appears to be perfect, and Siwon is intimidated by this for some reason. They start out as classmates with tension and slowly become closer as friends until they date. What I like about this movie is how relatable it can be for some. There are many people who used to be fat when they were young and experienced hardships because of it. Besides that, the story is relatable in the sense that handsome or perfect-looking people are intimidating, and the way Dawoon inches closer and closer to Siwon is amazing and curious to see what happens next.

There were various small plot points as well; the side characters' stories were all well developed. The only one that feels questionable is that of Dawoon's parents, as they are very distant and busy throughout the whole drama. So it makes sense how Dawoon's backstory is more of show rather than tell. While there is little shown, it can be said that the majority of the story is told from Siwon's point of view. Perhaps the directors did not want to overshadow Siwon's story by showing all the details of how Dawoon's parents treated Dawoon his whole life. Although a summary of their relationship can be made when looking at how Dawoon acted when he was having lunch with his mom and Siwon. The mother suggested that they never forced Dawoon to do anything or to choose to study film, but looking at Dawoon's face and manners, it can easily be seen that he disagrees, but does not want to cause a scene.

One slight thing I was confused by is the scene where Dawoon is sleeping in the last episode after looking at Siwon's text. The scene afterward is hazy and a little confusing, I assumed it had to be a dream, and later realized it is probably Dawoon's subconscious telling him to be a stubborn lover and visit Siwon whether he is mad or not. The scene threw me off a little bit when watching, but I am fine with it in the movie, I believe it shows more of Dawoon, his thoughts, and desires.

Details aside, I absolutely loved this movie and would recommend it to BL fans and non-BL fans alike. The story is compelling, the actors are amazing not to mention downright stunning, and the viewers are able to connect with the characters. Lastly, no moving to Europe or America, thank god.

I'm glad I watched

I didn't know what to expect from Cherry Blossoms After Winter but I liked it more than I expected. The story is quite unique in that it portrays different phases of their lives. From childhood to high school to college to marriage. This is fresh because most BLs focus on one scenario with maybe a little part at the end that shows their life a year later. With this you have the idea that they really are meant to spend their whole lives together. The actors are expressive and have good chemistry, and it was easy to watch. I did skip the bullying part in the beginning but that didn't last for long at all.

While the drama is enjoyable, I would have liked for it to have been a little longer to better portray their closeness. Nevertheless, there was just enough time to understand their closeness. The pair is very affectionate and they are both honest with their feelings all throughout so it is not as frustrating to watch as other BLs.

Not bad, just way too short.

This drama tried to accomplish many things, but it's simply too short to handle any it. There is chemistry between all the characters and the acting is good. But this definitely needed more budget. It felt a little awkward seeing them fight at the end because we are meant to feel tension and buildup, but this just falls flat because of the pacing. If u like BL I would recommend watching it simply because of the characters and acting, but don't expect too much.

As for the love triangle, It felt underdeveloped. Not bad, simply underdeveloped. The first couple we see get close but their relationships gets cut off rather quickly, and near the end the second lover confesses but it's so quick after the news of the couple's break up that it almost feels like a joke. Overall it is a confusing drama. The writer should learn from this.

A Must Watch Series

This series is amazing for how realistic it is. The main character portrayed a young gay person's thoughts and feelings so well, it was scary how accurate it was. I am now writing this review months after watching it, and it is still memorable and it has good rewatch value.

The story is extremely unique, I have not seen drama like this before where a gay boy meets a fujoshi with who he can share his feelings. The drama had funny scenes, emotional scenes, even nerve-wracking scenes, and they were all entertaining to watch. I was fully invested in the story all the way through.

The only part of this series that I (heavily) disliked was the sexual relationship with the older man. I do not live in Japan, nor do I know anyone who knows what the young gay experience is like over there, but I assume that this was included to give an even more realistic portrayal. I know that in our community, there is sadly a lot of intimacy between older men and young boys, it seems that this occurrence crosses borders.

Japan is doing great with their BLs, not sure if this counts as it has little of "Boys Love" in it, but the character is gay so there is that. Anyway, the quality of Japan's BLs is amazing, most of them are extremely well-acted, have interesting storylines and are groundbreaking because of it. These films are amazing works of art and should be watched by everyone, not just LGBTQ people.

What The F-ck, also ignore the last five minutes?

This is the most unhinged movie I have ever seen, nothing about it made sense for the first hour and still many of the interactions were weird. It felt like we were a bystander and you see 2 people that know each other talk about something between them, but for a whole movie. I dont really know how to rate this movie but I will just put some of my thoughts here.

A married school teacher gets raped by a guy in a pig mask. Three months later, he is still traumatized by the event and gets followed by 2 guys, one of them being a guy called Kai. The teacher thinks its the guys that raped him, and he gets followed and teased with more and more. Eventually, he loses his job and his wife, and his mental state is a wreck. He lives randomly just like everyone in the shit town.

SPOILERS

Turns out, the teacher was not raped by Kai, but by an older man who is the boss of the shit town. The connection and why he "protects and gives money" is confusing but whatever. It is nice that some of the questions the viewer has were answered, but it is still obvious that this movie is open to interpretation in many areas.

Kai probably kept an eye out for the teacher because Kai liked him since he was a child. He surveyed the teachers trauma responses and helped him face his trauma. Still, he ruined the life of the teacher, so it felt quite meaningless in my eyes. Kai acted mostly self-indulgent in my opinion. One thing i dont get is why did the big boss man decide to rape the teacher? I see the connection with the teacher and Kai but not the with the boss.

As for the ending, it was cool that the teacher ended up burning the boss man alive, and then made love with Kai. It was a fcked up story, but at least there is some sort of happy ending. Until the boss man (i think? his face was covered probably from the hospital but idk) kllled the teacher and he lies dead naked in the forest. Bruh. What even is this story. Kai manages to escape and god knows what he is thinking and plans to do with his life.

I dont know how to recommend this movie. Its somewhat of an interesting watch but super confusing and does not deserve a re watch in my opinion. Still, the acting was great and I recommend it if you like darker themes in general. Respectfully, I prefer soft and fluffy BLs (this one is not even a BL), and will be enjoying them instead.

Great cinematography and acting, storyline confusing and unsatisfying

This BL, much like its main characters, is very soft and quiet in its expressions of gay love. The movie is 2 hours long, and it could have made much better use of the time. A lot, and I mean a lot of scenes are way longer than they need to be, probably to give the sense of how slow time flows in the small town where the movie takes place. Even still, there is little happing during these prolonged scenes. In other BLs, the main characters would glance at each other and the time the scene takes makes you feel like something is happening. In this movie, it feels more like the movie is paused and you are waiting for the next scene to take place. Another gripe I have with the movie is that the scenes shown and the story told are confusing. What I mean is that I don't feel the depth that the director wanted the viewer to feel. The feelings of the main character and what goes on inside his head remain a mystery, and the ending is open and feels very incomplete, like there is no ending.

The acting overall is good and the characters are recognizable and deep. The lighting and the camera angles are satisfying as well. I wish that the movie was stronger. So either, have a stronger emphasis on love or a stronger emphasis on dealing with homophobia and feeling rejection from society. The general sense I got was: main character has daughter and moved to small town because he is gay and rejected by his surroundings, he has a lover and wants to be together with him but feels uncomfortable that he will be seen as gay and rejected again. I don't understand what the main character wants other than being accepted (not expressed directly) and living with his daughter. Interesting watch I suppose but not as deep and meaningful for what it's worth. Still, nice to see a more manly Korean man in a gay role like this in a Korean BL, most are or look like idols so this is nice for the larger gay population in Korea.

Interesting, rather plain

I loved the intro of this drama and felt that the pace was fine. It improved even more after OhmNanon were out of the picture. The actors fit each other and they both look very stylish in every episode. I liked a lot about this BL, the positives are that it is rather soft, sweet, intimate and has a lot of funny light hearted moments. You can feel the love blossom and you feel that the two characters have gotten close to each other so much that they can tell who the other is without seeing their face. It is rather well done and I had no problems finishing the drama.

Now for some of the negatives, Jimmy is not the best actor and while it isn't too noticable, He definitely stands out as the most unskilled. It is hard to describe why. He seems a little too stiff and has flat expressions. This is less of an issue in the more romantic or funny scenes but still noticable. Besides that, the story is a little hard to follow some times, there are time skips that don't feel like time skips and it makes the story feel less grand.

Overall, the BL has many cute moments and can be compared to other GMMTV dramas that have faults in them like Enchante.

Beautiful, serious, and full of dilemmas

Kinnporsche is full of beautiful moments, sad moments, serious moments, and a lot of dilemmas. How should Porsche get more money? Should he really join Kinn as his bodyguard? Should he be his love? Should he stay with the main family? There are so many multifaceted problems that make the characters feel alive. On top of this, the acting is top-notch. There is a lot of violence, blood, and gun scenes, definitely the most in any BL. The finale has a lot of twists as well.

Kinn and Porsche's relationship is special. They have a lot of tension and intimacy. The two actors do a great job at portraying them, and they show their love and passion very well on screen. I am extremely satisfied with the ending as well. The whole series is about as long as other Thai series, with 14 episodes of around 50 minutes. The run time is enough so that every character feels real and is realized well. I especially loved the side couple, it was so unexpected and while they were toxic in the beginning, they made each other heal and feel special. It is beautiful to see in a BL. I would recommend this BL if you are comfortable with violence and guns, as well as serious matters. This is not a sweet love story from beginning to end. There are a lot of family dilemmas and the main theme is based on mafias, so take that into account when watching. I personally do not like mafia stories too much and dislike seeing blood, but for some reason, I could bear watching this easily.

The main highlight of the series is the passion, the dramatic family ties, and the growth of their lives. The ending really ties everything together, and after watching the whole thing, It really feels like a big and important entity in the BL world.

Runner chaser storyline done well

As with all Korean BLs,Semantic Error is short and intense. Only 8 episodes of around 20 minutes, but I felt that it was enough for the viewer to get a good sense of the characters and to get attached to the couple. The two leads have great chemistry and perform their character very well. The robotic and unsociable Chu Sang Woo and the adamant chaser Jang Jae Young are addicting to watch and I was never bored while watching. I think any BL or k-drama fan would enjoy this series.

On the other hand, I feel like this drama does not do much new to the BL genre as a whole. The friend group of Jang Jaeyoung is colorful, fresh, and is nice to see in a BL, but in terms of the plot, it does feel like a superficial story with unrealistic main characters. As someone who prefers BL movies and series with more believable characters, plots, and pairings, this makes me not rank it as high as another viewer. It's fun to watch but it is not my favorite trope, I'll put it like that. Ultimately I enjoyed the drama a lot and hope to see more from the two leads and I hope that Korea produces more BLs in the future.

Not your typical BL, but it makes you think

This is an extremely interesting movie. Only watch if you are 18+ because there are actual sex scenes in this (No penises or anuses but naked bodies and sexual acts). Not sure if this is enjoyable for female BL fans, as a gay man I enjoyed it tho. While there are numerous sex scenes, the actual underlying theme is really interesting and also well integrated into the whole movie. This movie really caught me by surprise numerous times as the characters. did things differently than what you would expect.

The underlying theme is life and death, and how even if you have lost everything, ending your life is not the answer as it will not bring back anything you lost. I will not explain all of the ways this theme presents itself, it is quite geniusly done in the movie. I highly recommend people to watch this movie if they are comfortable with watching gay 18+ scenes, as the story and theme is fascinating. Before watching I thought this was simply some gay pornographic movie with little story, but I was very wrong about this. If compared with "Pornographer", the Japanese BL movie about an author of erotic books, this movie "Sei no Gekiyaku" is a lot more grounded and everything makes more sense than in Pornographer.

The movie is a lot to process but I am very happy I watched it.

Very enjoyable

Finally, a Korean BL that isn't as short as a movie! I loved this series a lot, the love triangle was competitive but not too fierce which I enjoyed. It was hard to tell who Woo Taegyung was going to end up with at times, I liked this as the story remained interesting and I wanted to watch the next episode quickly lol. There being an original OST made the drama very enjoyable, it feels like its own thing because of it.

I really liked that the characters were comfortable saying they like each other without having to ask about the sexuality of the other. I think this BL is very important for South Korea so people will be more open-minded regarding sexuality.

I only wish there were more romantic moments, but I guess that as the characters are high-school students, they are shy and not daring in love.

Overall, I am very happy with this drama and highly recommend everyone to watch it. This is one BL you do not wanna skip :).

Fluffy and wonderful!

This BL has elements that seem very drama and manga-like but it is still very real and you can imagine the story as real occurences. The characters are balanced and the screen time shared between the characters is pretty even.

I loved the main couple, they had a lot of chemistry and they look gorgeous together. I do wish there was a little more editing and a little more peaks and valleys in their connection. I feel like it could have somehow been even more fluffy while also being more intimate and romantic.

The soundtrack wasnt my favorite and I was a little bothered by the sound affects for the phone, I heard the ringtone basically every episode lol. The lighting and scenery is very pretty, great job!

Overall this is a great BL that should be somewhere on your watchlist especially if you like softer themes.

Strong beginning and end, overall a cosy watch!

This BL is 6 episodes long, and it focused on one couple and a little of their personal life and past. Hirokuni is friendly and social, and Kai is quiet and used to being by himself. The couple look cute together, but only the first and last episodes are strong in terms of chemistry. The other episodes don't do much, and there were too many of Hirokuni's office scenes. This kinda makes sense as Hirokuni's storyline is that he is being overworked and doesn't see the joy in life until he meets with Kai again. Still, I would've enjoyed more scenes of the two doing something together. Every character was likable, and the ending was very satisfying. I loved Hirokuni's "proposal" to Kai, hearing what he said in Japanese was beautiful.

Overall I am pleased with this BL. The acting is fine, Kai is kind of monotone but I guess that's his vibe. I look forward to seeing more of the two. The biggest issue I had with this drama was the lack of interesting environments and episodes. It somehow felt too short while still having too much filler. I still recommend this a watch.
