When you watch this drama, think of S1 as its own drama instead of a prequel. S1 that started xiao zhan didn't actually follow the canon donghua, only the names and power system. That's why tang san seems more mature to you but in reality, he was always mature since childhood. If you want to know about their actual characters, I suggest watching the animated donghuas until the final tournament arc (around 100 episodes, almost 12min each) Ofc you can also skip that if you don't want to waste time since they already show some flashbacks in this season (only few tho)

I mean, I don't think there are live action dramas that can surpass their animated counter parts especially ones like soul land. But like you said, this is definitely >>> S1

I wish they add more seasons but with the same actors from this drama so the events don't feel rushed. I actually like how they went into more details like XW friendship with the 2 soul beasts

Something I learned about loyal couples in donghus is to never mess with their significant other cause they will get that power boost and make you regret you ever laid your hands on one of them (start to remember tang san spider form poisoning everyone when the snake lady hurt xiao)

Their romantic scenes are just sooo sweet, ep 19 already was so good even tho it won't last long, but the journey and the romantic scenes are still gonna come sooner or later. I just hope we get a lot more episodes cause I can't get enough of this 😂. I love when live action dramas stay loyal to the donghua especially when it comes to soul land

I just watched both actors in s1 and land of the warriors, zhou yiran is better than xiao zhan for the role when comparing it to the donghua, look wise and character (not hating on xiao zhan, I love him and watched almost all the dramas he was a lead in)

The animated donghua soul land 2 is a continuation. They gave birth to the butterfly goddess, she's basically a mix of the 2, very beautiful, her name is her power, her butterfly form is very strong and she can also wield the hammer. She disguised herself as a boy but the episode she revealed her true form was so majestic. Her lover is the god of emotions or something like that who also enrolled in the academy same year as her, his ice control ability is unmatched I think since he has the ice goddess and the ice empress on his side (not a harem, they are just soul beasts like the ape and the water dragon). He is very loyal like tang san and also a bit of dimwit like him as well when it comes to love. But in term of loyalty, him and tang san are top notch

The marketing team should've promoted this better tbh, I never heard news about this drama and only came across it cause I check the latest released dramas daily, the drama is very good. Also, it's a crime to make this drama only last 6 episodes. It already managed to hook me with just 2 episodes, I need way more so the events don't feel rushed and we get more depth about the characters like the drama "move"

We don't know the fate of the ML, being casted as a ML doesn't mean a happy ending, it just means they appear in all episodes. 2nd ML for example is a good guy and a potential future lover but he has way less screentime so he's categorized as a support. In most dramas like this, both wife and husband are shown as leads whether they split up or stay together
