High Highs, Boring Lows

The beginning of this drama is hilarious. I found there to be a lot of laugh out loud moments but I was also VERY confused. I'm not sure if that's due to poor translation but I was also confused by the way they acted towards each other.

It seemed like they both like each other but I guess she didn't fall for him right away like I had thought(?), she just wanted to have a baby with him (?). Although I'm still confused why he kept denying her when he was clearly jealous of Simon...

I found the constant back and forth of feelings for each other to be exhausting. One minute Rui is trying to break off the contract, the next minute he's jealous of Simon. Jealous enough to ask her for them into the apartment but won't sleep in the same room with her. Then there's Fang Ning who sometimes appears to have feeling for Rui but then other times only seems to want to have his baby. It's a bit annoying trying to keep up with their seemingly every changing thoughts/feelings. Which thread am I supposed to follow here? đŸ˜«

Then came Episode 13 which made me want to cry for Fang Ning. "I feel insecure everyday... I hate you" That whole scene feels so raw.

I was really bored with the Fang Ning business drama. To me it seemed incredibly reaching. The guy became her assistant for 3 years because he blames her for her sister’s death..??? At this point I was holding onto this drama by a tiny thread.

Then came the SIX YEAR jump. (I hate time jumps in general) Luckily, the story does seem to pick up a bit between Rui and Fang Ning but the side story for Tang Ping is dreadfully boring. Simon and Cai Si Yu are pretty cute though...

Overall I liked Rui and Fang Ning as a couple and the actors have great chemistry delivering some adorable and laugh out loud moments but the lows were just too low for me.

Would I Recommend? There are better romances out there
Would I Re-Watch? No.

For those looking for a more mature romance...

Wow. I'm not sure where to begin... I typically go for more playful comedic romance dramas but this one looked more mature and boy did it deliver. It had little laughs throughout along with heart wrenching and heart melting moments.

For those looking for a more mature romance with skinship, this is the romance drama for you. I decided not to give this drama the full 10 stars only because I wish we would have seen a bit more back story. There are holes in the story from the past that I would have liked to hear or better yet seen played out. I have questions and need answers! (Can a girl get a Season 2?)

Overall though I really enjoyed this drama and very happy I took a chance on it. Also, it's only 16 episodes so it's a quick and enjoyable watch that could have easily had another 4 or so episodes.

For the Good, For the Bad

I tend to watch dramas that are more modern romances but the concept of this supernatural romance and it's rating on Viki made me give it a shot.

For the Good, For the Bad!

For the Good:
- This supernatural concept fit very well for a romantic drama. The method he used to share his blood to the FL gave us a lot of laughs and cuteness. It was a great way for the writers to fit in random bits of romance and sometimes hilarious encounters.
- I liked the antagonist and his "origin" story which made me believed his motivation for being so evil. It didn't feel random or far-fetched. It was plausible and made sense. Honestly, even if he didn't have the backstory he had and only knew of the ML's abilities that may have been enough to make him "evil" but they added a layer his story making his motivation even more convincing.
- The 2nd ML. That's it. That's all I'm really going to say. I just found him lovely.

For the Bad:
- The acting was rough. I'm mostly referring to the 2 leads. I loved the ML and luckily his awkwardness fit with his character so it was easier to overlook but I didn't like his acting as much as the 2nd ML who was (again) lovely.
- I found the FL to be incredibly annoying at times. Everytime she cried I wanted to rip my ears off. Luckily I found her to have other redeeming qualities so I kept watching but she definitely got on my nerves a few times.

Despite there being some pretty slow parts at times and my annoyance with the FL, it was an interesting enough concept and cast to keep me watching until the end.

Am I glad I watched it? Yes.
Would I re-watch? Unlikely.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was hesitant to watch this drama fearing it might be another rinse and repeat youth drama but it surprised me. It really wasn't like that at all. I found most of this drama very much enjoyable. I love the ML's bouts of subtle and not so subtle jealousy. There are a fair bit of laugh out loud moments as well. The only negative I have is that it became a bit slow in last 4-5 episodes making rewatching a bit questionable.

Overall though the drama is very sweet and the characters are lovable.

Would recommend.

Best Gaming-Romance Drama

As a female gamer myself, I love that the female lead (Smiling) isn't some helpless pretty girl who needs constant saving. I also appreciate how they included a lot of the challenges female gamers face. (Being picked on/ganged up on, being constantly criticized for not only how the play but also how they look/act, having to prove yourself) She really holds her own throughout the story and it made me want to root for her even more.

I also liked how they portrayed Smiling's Ex. They didn't make him the stereotypical mean ex-boyfriend. I found the way they approached their relationship to be more life like and not overly dramatize.

The fighting cutscenes are just so so good. I'm not a huge fan of animation but I was pleasantly surprised when I found myself looking forward to the next fight scene. I want more!

I have re-watched this drama and thoroughly enjoy it every time. I truly hope they come out with a season 2.

Would 100% recommend.

Surprised at How Much I Loved This

I usually don't like the cheating theme but this was done very well. I wasn't nearly as anxious as I thought I would be watching it.
Although, I watched this drama a little while ago now, I still think about it. So much chemistry between the leads. I actually enjoyed watching them have it out with each other. I thought the FL was perfect and Jasper is always fun to watch.
I found the entire drama entertaining from beginning to end. This one goes in the rewatch category.

This drama started out very strong. I really loved the cruise ship part of the this story. His family was fantastic as well. I really loved watching them grow as a unit. However, I wasn’t a fan of where the story went in the second half because it really slowed things down. The leads had great chemistry but I can't get over how something so big could happen and they didn't talk about it until way later. The ending was pleasing but I think they could have done it a little better. Overall it was good.

**Small Spoiler**

How the heck could you invite that person to your wedding after what they did? I'm sorry but no.

The potential is there. Not the execution.

Really good OST.

Marcus Chang is lovely even if the writing for his character was a bit off.

I think the problem for me with this drama is the inconsistent flow. Almost like it can't decide what type of drama it wants to be. There's just something off about the transitions from suspense, to comedy, to love story. I can't seem to put my finger on was exactly it is but it's written in a way that feels sort of choppy.

That being said I did enjoy the love story and I did enjoy the business story line I just feel they were executed in a way that was more satisfying.

Started Good. Got Intense. Then Strange.

Honestly, there's a lot to unpack about this drama but I'm not even sure it's worth unpacking...
At the start, this drama gave me It's Okay Not to be Okay vibes except here both leads have issues (trying to avoid spoilers) and become increasingly obsessed with each other.
Then things just went off the rails. I had to cover my eyes a few times cringing “no, no, no, no!”
Interesting concept I guess and the lead parts as well as the ex-boyfriend's part were played well... there were some good kisses throughout (as well as some bad ones) but I don’t think I could rewatch.
