I think this was supposed to be action comedy. You finding it unnecessary is just your opinion as you can see in the previous comments many people loved the 2nd ep because it was very hilarious. If you don't like comedy in this type of stuff, then I suggest you should drop it because I think the comedic acts will stay.

Oh yeah, this reminded me of one previous ep where HW told his mom to take care of HI when he' s away, that also could be a foreshadowing.

I think this is first time for me where people are shipping ML with all the other leads i.e SFL, SML, FL(all of them in decreasing order of amount of shippers).

Yeah ep 3 and 4 has some weird cutting, I also thought maybe because they were leaked early but we will see how the eps will pan out in disney today.
