From my understanding Gu Zhaoxi and the crown prince both were assasinated the same day. Gu Zhaoxi was killed by wenshuang in wolf pit. Huan Prince sent the fake one(Zhaoxi face) with bandits to kill crown prince but he didn’t die. Yes, the start is very good. Allen Ren is fantastic as always. I suggest you to watch A moment but forever to better understand the story setting which is in the same universe. If you like xianxia you will definitely love it.
