No, he didn't purposely lose weight. LYX has always had a wiry frame because of his genetics and ballet background, but he lost extra weight due to an incident. While filming his last scene in his drama Light Chaser Rescue, his co-star struck his face so hard in a fight scene that he was sent to the hospital and had stitches. He had to go on a liquid diet and rest because of those injuries so he couldn't join the TTEOTM crew right away. He had bruises and scarring near his lip so while filming TTEOTM, he had thick foundation to hide them. There were several write ups and posts about this incident on celebrity websites, XHS, reddit, etc.

I did watch Ep.1 in Youku's official website to add to the view count and noticed that the CGI considerably suffers at the 720P resolution for the "free" view. Moonies, if you have a Youku or Netflix subscription, go for the 4k.
