This ending was good. It allowed HRY to go back and undo some areas of regret for those characters to have lesser "mistakes" in their tribulation and focus on what is truly important,
while the premise that the result can't be changed means that all the growth she and BJS had from their sufferings and interactions with others are not negated (by doing a total reset as in some dramas). Their enlightenment is the key point to reach another level of godhood and now that everything is cleared and true love survives through the ashes, they can be together forever - the eternal yin and yang.

It wasn't a silly choice. It showed to HRY that despite everything, she was the only existence that BJS remembers. Since BJS became childlike, he could fully express his affection, jealousy, clinginess, and love towards HRY without the "dignified" mantle and encumbrances of his responsibility. Despite his essence almost being broken beyond belief, his natural instint was to protect her. I think his actions finally made HRY believe that BJS truly loves her. Last but not the least, ZSX portrayed him in such an adorable way and added levity to a grim situation. He was just so cute! 😍😂

The impression that I got was there is another timeline. HRY in light blue went back in time to heal and talk to herself (in pink) about future events to make her and BJS from making the same mistakes. They have a chance at getting a more straightforward HE because the major misunderstanding was removed (BJS stripping her of her power and getting the punishment for her). However, I do agree that it is possible that even with the intervention, it might still lead to Shi'an's death, etc. The point is at least now those 2 are more informed.

Nothing can be changed about her own as shown from her 1st attempt at changing XJS's past. That is part of her karma and journey as a god. It is also meaningful because it doesn't negate everything that happened that contributed to her growth and enlightenment.

1. The heavenly emissary did not show up anymore. It seems like the high heavens don't really interfere that much (except for huge transgressions like killing a deity and upturning the natural order). In the drama, there is the idea of creation-existence-decay-destruction cycle so even if the villain destroys the stele and brings the destruction to the 3 realms, that is actually part of that natural cycle.
2. Xuan Wei already completed his mortal cultivation. He could have ascended and became an immortal but he didn't because he has found his Dao(his way/principle). Because of HRY's influence, he had been cultivating - not to become an immortal but to actually help humanity when needed. Jingsan's actions accelerated the impending drought, so HRY had to find a solution. It was implied she would sacrifice herself but Xuan Wei immobilized her and stepped up to the plate. He shattered his golden core to bring rain - to give this generation of humans a chance to live on.
3. HRY did go back in time to change events however the outcome stayed the same in their main timeline. In other timelines, their counterparts bypassed the mistakes due to her intervention and found happiness and enlightenment quicker.

Maybe if BJS and HRY had asked the Empyrean, 'May we have our tribulation, pretty please with a cherry on top?' - it wouldn’t have been so rough on them. 🤣🤣🤣

It basically took them more than 400 years to reach enlightenment. Xuan Wei even got there faster. I cracked up at how extra dramatic he is in some scenes. 🤣
