Episode 17: Li Landi said she will be ACTING! So glad AZQ finally found out. Lin Tuo pining so hard by going to see her in secret again and again, of course he did be found out soon hah. Understandable reaction from An Papa. He knew best how it was like to be a caretaker of someone sick and AZQ is still so young... it won't be easy for her. But like she said, she did carry the guilt forever with her and she loves him. SIGH. AZQ is so strong. She really went into action after she found out, from talking to her dad, the doctor, seeing other ALS patients, and then talking to Lin Tuo's parents to plan how to take care of Lin Tuo. I can see why Li Landi said AZQ is a character that left a piece inside of her even now after 2 years of filming.

Episode 16: Extremely wonderful to see that heart-to-heart conversation between Lin Tuo and his dad. Plus, his dad and mom actually apologizing??? Not a lot of parents would actually apologize so I am happy that Lin Tuo got that from them. Lin Tuo also learned more about his dad too and what his dad was so driven for to the point that he neglected other roles (i.e. husband, father, etc.) in his life.
Lin Tuo's dad narration too about how there are exams for colleges to be a good student, exams to get a job and become a good worker but there aren't exams for parents. That children didn't get to choose their parents, and, in this case, they (Lin Tuo's parents) failed him and didn't pass as good parents.
I love this because I think sometimes, Asian dramas can focus on so much on filial piety that it is rare for the narration to show parents apologizing or admitting they were wrong. That because your parents gave birth to you and they struggled, you should still accept their neglect.
Truly need to treasure the people you love while they are still here... Lin Tuo's parents are basically trying to make up for the lost time and remaining time now that they know but they would have gone on with their lives not giving Lin Tuo their full attention and care if he didn't have this condition... The irony of it all.
Sometimes parents are so stubborn and busy that they only focus on making sure their kids pass exams and go to schools that they neglect LIVING alongside their kids. That their kids are also human beings that need visible love and care. That there needs to be communication and time spend together. I guess at least Lin Tuo is getting it now.

Sometimes it is the hardest to tell the people you love most SIGH. Based on the clip, he is hiding it from his grandpa because his grandpa has a weak heart. From his brother because his brother just started college. From AZQ because he knows no matter what she chooses, she will suffer. Either she leaves him and feels guilty, or she chooses to stay with him and go through parting with him later on. SIGH.
But yeah, he is not going to be able to hide it much longer when he needs to start using a wheelchair.
Interesting fact: The doctor who diagnosed Lin Tuo with ALS in the drama is an actual doctor who specializes in ALS in real life. He is not actually an actor but an actual doctor who also served as a counsel for the production.
Interesting fact 2.0: Cai Lei, former vice president of JD, is a leading ALS advocate in China and he was diagnosed with ALS when he was around 41 years old. He too served as a counsel for the production. He is really well-known within the ALS Chinese community and is one of the leading figures there. His story with his wife is pretty well-known too. After his diagnosis, he wanted to divorce his wife, but his wife refused and stood by him all these years. He posted about this drama on his Weibo too to promote it.
Also a funny thing the cast mentioned during the livestream was all these random endings they saw people talking about on social media for this drama lmao. Li Landi laughed about the ending of AZQ supposedly marrying Lin Ye and Li Xin Ran laughed about the ending of her character becoming some wealthy woman and AZQ marrying the senior but then running away on the day of the wedding to propose to Lin Tuo haha.
Lin Yi actually posted on Weibo about this (he mentioned it in during the cast's livestream too) how people kept on asking if it is a happy ending or sad/bad ending before they start this drama and he said this drama shouldn't be wrapped up as either HE or BE, but that it is about love.
I agree with him because I think a "happy ending" (aka no one dies, main pair marries, have kids, etc.) in a drama doesn't necessarily mean the romance itself was good and a "bad/sad ending" doesn't mean the romance was bad either.
I have a feeling if I start this drama, I'll be crying non-stop.
Despite the main theme of this drama, it honestly has been heart-warming too. There are quite a lot of sweet and funny scenes before it gets to that specific part. Definitely recommending this drama! It is well-acted and the script/dialogues have been excellent.

Seems like He Xin Di showed a picture of CGP pushing Lin Tuo in a wheelchair and AZQ confronted them thinking Lin Tuo was faking it as the reason for their breakup (since he never gave an actual reason for their breakup so she thought he is putting on a fake show because he wanted to break up that badly). But when she grabbed his arm and his arm fell to the side, she realized then it is not fake. I think this might be around episode 16.
AZQ eating all the lollipops that Lin Tuo gave her because lollipops were supposed to make her feel better but it didn't help so she ate one after another... I am so sad (and this is just their break up, not even her knowing the truth yet).

I can't even be upset about Lin Tuo not telling his close friends, family, and loved ones because how do you even bring yourself to tell your loved ones? That it is a medical condition with an end date already set in place. Seeing CGP breaking down is already rough, we still have to go through it with his family and AZQ... my heart.

It is usually a special case to have 2 dramas of the same actor or actress airing at the same time (happened to another actor Chen Xingxu this year) but other reasons are also because the platforms are fighting/competing sometimes by dropping dramas of the same actor or actress at the same time.
