it would have been if its that well known but the administrators weren't running behind rumors obv. And none of the two couple does any physical affection overtly except anything minor. So people ain't gonna see two guys taking a picture and just assume they gay

And the point regarding Mek aint even "historical" . If you wanna go on, I would like you to point out actual historical inaccuracies in the show, society is never homogenous in any period. Thailand, even though it has a long history of queer representation, very likely may have been homophobic too. Nonetheless, it is nowhere shown that the majority accepts them, rather it is shown as a gossip subject.
