Empathy

I just finished episode one and it's really enjoyable. All the characters (except the love interest) are fun and interesting. The only thing I don't like is that the supposed love interest is an irredeemable asshole that uses the main character the entire time. He's selfish, arrogant, and not very likable apart from him being hot. I understand that characters can have flaws but they need to be balanced or it makes it impossible to root for them. That all being said, I can't wait to see what happens in the next episode.

Wow!

I really really liked this. It was cute, funny, and the acting was so good. It kept my attention the entire time. The characters all feel very real even if sometimes the circumstances are kind of silly and I don't know what work the idols have done behind the scenes, but they seem so comfortable with each other on screen which is such a nice change of pace from the slightly stilted acting typically seen in the first handful of episodes of shows.

Holy Crap!

Trigger warning for neglect and suicidal ideations. This show got real heavy real quick. I was expecting a carefree light drama about romance and friendship and while this show is about that I wasn't expecting them to tackle topics of homelessness, neglect, and suicidal ideation. Song Yi gets evicted from her home and her mother (who's been MIA up until this point) finally gives her a call only to disappoint Song Yi by telling her that she has no intention of returning. (At least for now according to her, but I doubt it.) Song Yi takes a walk along a bridge where she calls a suicide hotline and vents about her situation. This episode hit me hard in a lot of places. The neglect of her mom and the subsequent pattern of thought that Song Yi has a result is something I could relate to. This is by no means a bad thing it was just a very sudden very hard to swallow pill. I don't know when the next hard emotional impact is going to be, but it makes me cautious of the episodes to come. Wasn't expecting to relate so much to the character in this way, but damn!

Consent?

*MILD SPOILER WARNING* Okay. I absolutely love these characters. I love that Tharn secretly took care of Type when he was sick and was like "He's gonna get mad at me if he finds out so please don't say anything." But it turns out Type kinda knew all along. Once again the problem I'm having is the constant dubious consent and straight up lack of consent for certain things. What Tharn did could be considered sexual harassment both in this episode and the first one. This is the fact that Type hates gay men because he was sexually assaulted by one bothers me. They could've used any other reason for him not to like his gay roommate, but they chose to go with sexual assault. Other than these massive nitpicks I'm really enjoying the story and the characters. Honestly if the characters weren't half as likeable as they I would've probably stopped watching before the end of episode one.

Intriguing (with some issues)

The story is set up well as are the characters. The only problem I had is that it showed the only gay character violating the consent of another when Tharn kissed Type while Type was not only drunk and unconscious. The message is also a bit mixed because there are times when characters make offhanded comments about Tharn of being a rapist- sometimes it's simply brushed aside and other times its clearly called out for being bigotry. I think the writers of this show need to be very careful with that line because it is very easy to cross. Other than these I liked the episode. Like I said I like how childish Type is (although I don't like his bigotry) and I like Tharn's flirtiness (but don't like his general lack of consent when it comes to Type.)
