Why Is Gav Acting So Mean?

Episode 11 was boring as another love interest is introduced. It's like the writers don't have anything important to say so they just bring in another love interest to amp up the stakes. And why is Gav being so b*tchy all of a sudden? He was never this mean when Terrence was actively pursing Cai. Wesley was just a childhood friend. Not even actively pursuing Cai and yet Gav mocked his appearance and his social media videos. Like Gav post the same kind of content. What a hypocrite. I'm so done with this overrated series. Hello Stranger is leagues better.

Cute...

Episode 7 was quite nice as we got to see some more kilig moments between TauTep and learned more about the "pangs' couple. So far, I don't see much chemistry between Ronin and Makisig but hopefully, in the following episodes, their chemistry will improve. On a side note, what happened to the shirtless Orion dude from the end of Episode 6? I thought that he was Tep's LA boyfriend, but Tep said that that was a lie (unless he was lying). I was expecting Orion to be addressed in this episode, but he wasn't. Hopefully, it will be addressed in Episode 8.

Back On Track...

Episode 3 was much better than the previous episode as there was actual progression in Ace and Sky's relationship. As many other people have stated, Ace's attitude change was quite abrupt and random though very much welcomed. It was nice seeing him start to care for Sky. I hope that both of their girlfriends won't come on the trip so that Sky and Ace can start to deepen their relationship!

A Filler Episode...

Episode 2 wasn't as strong as the first episode. There wasn't any progression in Ace and Sky's relationship at all. Just Sky continuing to mess up and Ace getting angry at Sky. On a side note, it's kinda weird to see someone so mean and arrogant be so kind and tender towards his pet dog. Ace with his dogs reminded me of Jeffree Star and his own dogs to be honest lol. The plot of this episode felt forced and predictable. Of course, Sky had to go to the bathroom and leave Jam in charge of Chukchuk whereas Jam just so happened to get a phone call and just so happened to take the call outside, leaving the door open for Chuchuk to escape. Why couldn't Jam take the call inside? There was no one near him who could hear his conversation anyways? It was so obvious that Sky was going to mess up again and get on Ace's last nerve. Hopefully, there will be some actual progression between Sky and Ace in the next episode.

It's Got Its Flaws, But I'm Hooked!

My Day is probably the most anticipated filipino BL's, especially on social media! I see so many people mention how excited they were for this series, so of course, I had to check it out when it aired. The first teaser which showed the elevator scene wasn't anything special, but its trailer was very impressive, showcasing a budget and production value that I have yet to see in pinoy BL's. I love that pinoy BL's are getting high budgets! For the budget though, couldn't the slightly blurry cinematography be crisper? The audio could also be clearer. The music, though pretty, is a bit too much, making it feel like a Disney fairytale story with its flourishes which clearly it isn't. The acting could be better also as it felt like everyone was trying too hard. However, I love that this series is taking the classic story of poor meets rich, but with a BL twist. The story is quite interesting and I am already completely hooked just by watching the first episode. Yes, there are some flaws in the story, mainly the mean girlfriend trope and the comedic fat gay trope, but the set-up of Ace and Sky's story is perfect. I love that the series will be exploring parental expectation/pressure in Ace's character. On a side note, I was surprised to hear some English swearing with a few f*ck's said within the first episode. Also, when Sky's brother threw water at Sky's girlfriend when she was frightened by an insect falling on her, I died! That was comedic genius! I LOVED that moment and couldn't stop laughing! On a different side note, I'm okay with product placement in series but when the product being advertised is an instant skin whitening lotion. Just no. There's already a huge colorism issue in Asian countries. We don't need our BL's to perpetuate the idea that fair skin is better and more desirable than darker skin. And there wasn't just one skin whitening product placement, but two! All in one episode! Hopefully, there won't be anymore distasteful product placements in the series.

Much Better than The First Episode...

After the hugely disappointing first episode, Episode 2 was a nice breathe of fresh air that had some semblance of the kilig, charm and cuteness of the original series, 2gether, as Sarawat tries to serenade Tine as they work out the conflicts between their respective clubs. Whereas I could care less about the side couples in the first episode, I actually was quite interested in them in this episode, especially FrankMil. Though the intimacy scenes did still feel a bit forced (as if the series creator wanted to placate the fans), they weren't as blatant as those in the first episode and were quite nice, especially the snack game that a random P'Jennie initiated between WatTine. I'm excited for the next episode now!

Disappointing So Far...

I was really excited when this mini-series was announced! 2gether was my gateway drug into the world of BL and will always have a special place in my heart. My expectations for this series was high! However, a part of me felt that I was going to be disappointed, which after watching Episode 1, I unfortunately am. This is what I was worried about; that this mini-series won't be any good... And it wasn't (so far). It felt forced, unnatural and kinda dull to be honest. The charm, the klig, the magic of its predecessor series have disappeared. Even the last several episodes of 2gether were better than the first episode of Still 2gether in my opinion. I'm not a fan of the desaturated look for this series, which is a stark contrast to the vibrant colors of 2gether, though it is understandable as it was filmed and released during the COVID crisis, which may have caused the production to be limited. Or at least, that's what I'm thinking. Hopefully, they didn't just skip the color grading just to rush-release this series. The backtracking by providing answers to Sarawat's actions like why he didn't visit Tine in the hospital, or why he let Pam hug him or why he let Mil take Tine to the hospital, is understandable though kinda tasteless in my opinion. What's done is done. Like what Sarawat said in the first episode, "Let bygones be bygones. We shouldn't bring it up." The writers should just improve from there. There's no point backtracking, which seems like a cheap attempt to save face and cover their tracks, especially when the answers were half-assed. It is directed by Backof, who directed Dark Blue Kiss and my favourite BL (thus far) He's Coming To Me, who is also gay too! However, so far his efforts with this series are lacking. The directing and editing seems a bit too janky and amateurish unfortunately. Probably due to them rushing through production and post-production to get this series out to the public as soon as possible. The story also didn't make any sense. Tine and Sarawat has been in a relationship for a year yet Tine still gets shocked when he sees Sarawat naked or still refuses to let Sarawat touch his pecs. The other relationships also felt forced and I didn't care for them to be honest. The first episode had so much head-patting and awkward fan service but literally no tender, boyfriend-type affection at all. It actually felt like Tine and Sarawat's chemistry/relationship regressed from being friends in 2gether to being roommates. For some reason, they felt colder and more distant towards one another. On a related note, I wonder if there will be a kiss in this series as the high-five in the finale got SO MUCH HATE!
