I honestly don’t understand how Jiang Ci hates Pei Yan so much now. You can see the distaste on her face around him. The drama is good, but I think it would be better without a female lead and Pei Yan and Sanlang just power struggling each other until they realize they both fighting for the same thing.

So I have noticed in quite a few of these historical Chinese dramas that a blood related cousin is always having a romantic liking towards another cousin and always want to marry that cousin. Can someone educate me on Chinese lifestyle on if it is just a historical thing or is still being practiced today as a part of their culture.

I have seen a lot of brutal Emperors in historical cdramas, but this one takes the cake ! The way he so nonchalantly destroy entire families whilst maintaining a calm demeanor and not even raising his voice is actually scary.

This cdrama makes me cry every single episode. The poster gives love triangle vibe, but I’m glad it did not take that route. Shen Qi is a sweetheart and deserves the best of things. Wish we could see more of him, but I’m not mad at how the drama is being played out. I’m hooked
