My guess is that she never had a chance to raise her baby. Her parents must have forced her to give up her baby in an orphanage after the fire. The pain of losing her child was so painful that she never wanted to have another one for fear she might lose her child gain.
I think Geum Hui might have a teenage pregnancy like 17yo or 18yo and her family objected to her raising her baby. The fire could have been accidental and Geum Hui rushed in to save Do Hyun but was eventually forced to give up her baby. Just my thoughts....😉

How do you know her age when Do Hyun was born? Was it in "Brief Counters" the original series? I have not watched or heard of the original series.
