As for the blind 5th lady, it's shown to us how scheming and manipulative person she is. She chose scholar Bai Ying Sheng because she thinks she can control and manipulate him easily.

well, Yan Bai Luo could be the final villain but if i remember it correctly, Cousin Wen was all uptight about the wedding consummation night, but he looked all good and calm after a night rest and no longer appeared angry or uptight. I know Gentleman Yan is well versed in herbs and healing and could be the one who poisoned Yang Dingchen, but we at this point cannot rule out Wen Can.
