They believe Prince Chang will definitely seize the opportunity to come to the ceremony to kill the Emperor and usurp his throne.
As you've seen it raw, after the rebels surrendered/captured and XRC got killed, the scene changed to flashback their meeting strategizing their moves and how to capture/kill XRC. After the flashback, the scene transitions back to the present time with Princess Xipeng, Prince An and ChuChu in her married outfit assembled before Eunuch Jinbao reading the emperor's edict that Chuchu being a talented coroner will be reinstated as the imperial coroner to assist Prince An in his investigation work.
as far as i'm concerned, i'm ok with ML/FL not having much screen time together as this is a palace full of unscrupulous court officials and their hidden arrows and plots in their power struggle from top rank down... My only complaint of this show is the bad film editing resulting in poor transition from one scene to the next... that important info or outcome were not being acted out but told in the form of casual talks, reports to the majesty and/or read in the form of edicts...
If one were to pay less attention, such info would have been missed, hence losing the connection or left high and dry wondering what happened!!!
