I felt differently, although I was worried that his “early” death would slow down the drama’s interest.…
Because they didn't want Zang Hai to find out who the 3rd villain was. They couldn't risk exposing him. Even when ZH confronted Duke PJ, he didn't reveal who he was. It can be inferred that they made a pact to get the seal. And if one died, the other would take over. ZH manipulated Duke PJ and Eunuch Cao to think they betrayed each other. But he wasn't able to do that with the 3rd guy so they both remained loyal to him.
I have to applaud the script writer. It's not easy to captivate the audience and to maintain the same level of greatness until the end and he did it. I want to talk about the ending so beware of spoilers ahead:
The main subject matter of the drama isn't just revenge, it's also feudalism. The story takes place in a society where the powerful will always rule over the defenseless and the weak. The 3rd villain was the scariest of them all. He ruined Duke Ping Jin and Eunuch Cao for his own personal gains. He used Zang Hai from the very beginning and in the end, he died by his own sword manipulated with half-truths. He is the ultimate villain. The Great Yong is now ruled by a cruel emperor. A cruel emperor he put in place. I like that there's no idealistic ending. There's a new emperor that's crueler than the one before, a new Marquis that is smarter and colder than the one before, and a new "Zang Hai" (who some speculate could be the son of the beheaded general ZhiXing killed) who has arrived to take revenge. And a "missing seal." Everything went full circle.
Now I have one question. Will the story repeat itself?
Best writing. Best script. Best cinematography. Best editing. Best fight scenes. Best acting. Legend of Zang Hai is the drama of the year. I went to check the ratings on Douyin. 623,000 people voted with 579,000 giving the drama 5/5 stars. That's about 93% Looks like the audience agrees. I'm so happy and proud of the cast and crew.
Soooo. Zheng Xiaolong said in an interview that he's working on a second collaboration with Xiao Zhan. And I want to know what that is. A sequel? A completely different drama? Can we please have both? I would like both please.
Legend of Zang Hai has become Xiao Zhan’s BEST drama and one of the greatest dramas in cdrama history. It’s already amongst the goats. It’s amazing and also crazy to witness especially because Xiao Zhan is still young and has so many more opportunities to bring us some more quality dramas. I’m already looking forward to his next drama “Spying.” That one also has the chance to be record breaking and history making like Legend of Zang Hai. 🤩
This is the GREATEST drama I have ever watched in my life. I don’t think I’ve commented here in a while because I became so immersed in the story. I am really speechless. Like I can’t believe how good this drama is from beginning to end. It left me completely satisfied.
I really hope they plan a season 2. They left the ending with that possibility. Or if they don’t do a tv show, give us a movie. I’ll take either option. I just need more. I’ll have to binge watch the whole show again this weekend. And every month after until I find another drama that will captivate me like this one has. Bravo to the cast and crew! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Omg episode 20 had me freaking out. The prince is scary af! Zang Hai can’t say one wrong thing or he’s toast. I thought Duke Ping Jin was scary but he’s got nothing on Lord Yong Rong. I was so nervous for Zang Hai and kept yelling at him to stop asking questions. Episode 20 had me missing Zang Hai’s time in the Duke’s mansion because now I’m even more scared for him. Court politics are a whole other ball game! 😰
He was SML in his early drama like Oh My Emperor and he was the only male actor I could watch in the drama he…
The Longest Promise is so good though. Xiao Zhan is so breathtakingly ethereal as Shi Ying. Idk why the female lead gets some flack. But whatever she’s lacking in, Xiao Zhan makes up for with his acting and gorgeous face.
Why are there 4 dramas in related content??Are they related?? How??
They’re not really related. The Zang Hai character is very loosely based on a character from that series. But it’s a stand alone drama. Not connected to those other ones listed.
I gotta scream over how gorgeous Zang Hai looked in the boat. I couldn’t help but take MANY screenshots lol. How can someone be so breathtakingly handsome? 😍
Also, the chemistry between Zang Hai and An Tu is so good! They’re falling in love. 🥰
These are my favorite episodes so far! Zang Hai was INCREDIBLE in episodes 15 & 16. He planned everything down to a T. Complete perfection!
I also feel very smug because I’ve been saying for the longest time that Zang Hai would make mistakes in the beginning and refine his skills until he could pull off master schemes. And he has done it! 😌 His character development has been amazing!
This drama continues to get better and better! I’m sooo looking forward to tomorrow’s episodes. 🤩
This was in a Chinese newspaper? I agree with like all of it. Tbh, I'm really liking the rhetoric and language…
People’s Daily is China’s biggest newspaper if I’m not mistaken. When they really appreciate a drama they’ll give an in depth review like this. It means they find the drama worthwhile and that Legend of Zang Hai is really resonating with audiences. 🥰
I love how Zang Hai outsmarted everyone in episode 14. I love that we’re seeing his skills become more refined. His schemes have become more and more calculated. 🔥
