On ep11 and i still don't understand why ML fell for FL though. I don't know what he likes about her. I mean she's immature and irresponsible, plus I don't get why she smiles so randomly for no reason in particular. Does she get better later on? Because the romance feels so forced and unnatural.

Agree! The plot was well-crafted and there were no loose ends. But I can't root for a drama if the characters don't appeal to me. Maybe because I liked SFOT too much that when i finished it and started watching SOOD, I had really high expectation that the characters could fill the gap Zhang Wan Sen left behind. Main characters in SOOD (or their acting) couldn't get me hooked tho.
If the story was just a bit more polished and answered some big questions this drama would've been on par with…

It felt like a chore to watch for me, as the chemistry between leads are so stale, and both main characters just can't resonate with me at all. I kept waiting to be hooked by them, to no avail though.

wow so many positive comments. But imma hold my breath until the release of part 2, or better yet when it's finished airing, to binge it all together. I'm just that bad at handling cliffhangers xD.
The good point is, i like the plot, characters, and the cinematography. The tone here is blue, with is befitting of the melancholic feeling it gave off and the ocean/sky scenery, possibly hence the name 'The Blue Whisper'. The OSTs enhance the sadness and manage to pull on my heart string every time. Another good point is character development, especially the writing of ML, who went from pure, simple, devoted, and blissfully happy in love to vindictive, manipulative, obsessed, controlling, and conflicted, all of which were resulted from his unyielding affection for the FL. He has multiply plotlines, which make him relatable and real as a human being, not just a fictional character; unlike some one-dimensional MLs in some other dramas, who show no growth or depth at all, or whose love and sacrifice feel super forced and unnatural. This one is real and sophisticated, and I can't help but feel for the guy. Sadly Jia Lun couldn't pull off those complexed emotions though :"<.
And thankfully FL is not a mellow, pathetic, and incompetent damsel in distress. She's a bit too sanctimonious and always acts like Miss Know-it-all to my liking though 😆, but i would hate it if she were like XuanJi from L&R.
but i would've cried even more if ML's acting had shown more depth and complexity like that of Mark Chao in Eternal Love. I couldn't see the emotional conflict, regret, or secret yearning and immense anguish that ML character in this drama was experiencing, which is a shame. Maybe Mark could've pulled it off if he had been in this role. It feels as if he was just reciting lines in some very emotional scenes (ep14-20). His acting kinda fell short. Chemistry is a bit lackey in part 2 too. Or maybe i expect too much :v
