Nope :).She definitely had potential for it, but would need stronger/better writing, instead of the mess it was…
That's fair. I haven't watched Veil of Vengeance yet, so I can't really compare the two.
I get what you're saying, but I don't think a female lead has to suffer more than everyone else to be considered strong. For me, Ren Ruyi's strength comes from her growth, resilience, and the fact that she never stopped making her own choices despite everything she went through.
And honestly, I never felt Ning Yuanzhou overshadowed her. One of the things I liked about A Journey to Love was that both leads were competent and respected each other. Ruyi still had plenty of moments where she completely carried the scene.
So while she may not be the strongest female lead for everyone, she's definitely one of my favorites.

I respect your opinion but I think we're looking at her character differently.
What makes Ren Ruyi such a strong female lead to me isn't just that she's good at fighting. She went through so much in her life. Her father sold her to the Scarlet Guards, she was basically raised to be a weapon, and she spent years carrying out missions without ever having a normal life.
The queen was one of the few people who genuinely cared about her, so losing her was devastating. Even after all the betrayals, pain, and loss she experienced, she kept moving forward and eventually started making her own choices instead of living as a tool for others.
That's why I consider her one of the strongest female leads. Her strength comes from her resilience and growth, not just her fighting skills.
Yes this drama is for those who can withstand sad ending or bittersweet ending. Not everyone can endure sad endings specially death of favourite characters :)
Wait...Ai Mi is 17?? oh my God!! Ik she's young but not THIS young. I'm speechless, utterly.
I am literally older than her. I am feeling old π₯². Btw I am looking forward to this drama, my favourite male lead is here, and also Ai Mi is my favourite.
The current rating doesnβt reflect the quality of Blood River at all!!! Now I believe that the majority of MDL…
Seriously!!!! Most of the rating are given by Romance Lovers. Actually this type of wuxia drama with least romance are the best for me atleast. That's why I don't believe MDL rating π. I always go straight to watching the drama after reading the synopsis.
I read the novel before this drama aired. In the novel, Konghou is a cultivation genius with five spiritual roots.…
Idk why but I feel like the director wanted to show the ML most powerful. Maybe that's why they changed it.
According to others this was filmed in 2022, I think at that time most of the FL was weak, and the ML was the strongest and always helped the FL. They made this drama based on that (Idk but I feel like that).
Tbh I really wanted the FL to be stronger like in the novel. A stronger FL and ML combo is really good.
I wanted Li Hong Yi to get a stronger FL. In this drama :)
