My English is fine I guess. a lot of people mentioned there was a good English version out there on the Internet. But I'm not sure because I went down that rabbit hole with Silent Reading (Justice in the Dark) and everything that I've found wasn't up to scratch. The official English translation is coming in December so I've already pre-booked my copy.
I hope someone will invest in translating this one because it's fascinating.

I've not read the novel because I couldn't find an official translation in a language I can read and understand. I read somewhere that China is also very strict about the topic of translation as well. something about protecting legacy or art work of Chinese writers 🤔 not sure.
Honestly, I don't think I should need to read the novel to accept the dynamic of Hua and Shao’s relationship. I'm only analysing based on what we've seen so far. Perhaps when you read the novel you'll find Hua's redemption more satisfactory.
I'm reading the quote you've just cited and I don't really know what to make of it 🤔. Hua's gentle expression was always fake, his soft voice was rehearsed even the scent of his pheromones were altered by the pheromone suppressing chemicals that he was injecting which he already confessed to.
I understand that I'm watching a dark Yandere character but I can't help but feel betrayed for Shao. The guy is used to being the Alpha in a relationship I don't think he'll fancy being the omega!
I'm still watching, I'm too invested in this series as well as both couples, equally. So let's see where this is going.

I get your point that predators don’t follow rules anyway, but having sex-specific spaces gives women the confidence to CHALLENGE someone who doesn’t belong. If you remove that, you risk normalising situations where women feel unable to question who’s in their space.

The race/gay comparisons don’t really fit here, because those were about excluding people based on identity alone. Women-only spaces exist to protect privacy and reduce risk in situations where our bodies are exposed. That’s not the same thing.

Of course unisex single stalls are fine, but when we’re talking about large public changing rooms or bathrooms, it’s not unreasonable for women to want boundaries.

I think it’s easy to forget that women’s spaces aren’t just for women, they’re also for little girls and teenagers. That’s why SAFEGUARDING matters. For me, the risk of depriving women and girls of truly safe spaces outweighs the benefits of allowing trans women into them. And I don’t think this responsibility lies only with women, it’s everyone’s duty, including queer people, to help maintain spaces where women and children feel secure.

I don't think Shao ran for the hills cause he's not into alphas, I think he's rejecting Hua because of what he'd done to him especially the SA at the X hotel. he realised that's not the type of sex he's into.

There's not much of a choice for Shao to be fair! of course he won't choose death. No one would (except for me, I'm the vindictive bish). That's why I keep saying Shao lost agency since Hua entered his life. The decision to be permanently marked is clearly a major one, yet Shao’s other choice would be death!

That's exactly what I was looking for within the "redemption arc" something to make me - as a member of the audience- believe in Hua/Shao as a couple, because so far all I feel is heartache for Shao 😢. I want to see him fall in love with the Enigma Hua. I want to see a character development for Hua as well

But here’s the truth: who is Hua really? That’s the hard question. After the big reveal, Shao is forced to question every decision he’s made since Hua entered his life. How could he believe a single word Hua says now? And honestly, would you?
