I am here for queer optimism, nonsensical fantastical queer stories with happy endings. And I do mean ALL of the alphabet mafia letters :)

I prefer: goofy silly stories, complex plots and characters, gender-nonconformity, relationship dynamics in which both partners are equal (or at least both have a form of power, whether that be status or physical) and tease each other a lot, wholesomeness and good communication, slow burn, supernatural gimmicks, bright colors, indie productions, angst with a happy ending, queer themes such as found family, self-acceptance, social deviance and allegories for systemic oppression/cisheteronormativity.

I dislike: plots that revolve around nothing but jealousy and miscommunication, plots that take themselves too seriously without actually containing authenticity or depth, plots that follow a standard BL/GL formula without any innovation, sad grey gritty-ness, graphic violence, sex-negativity, consent issues, gore, full nudity, unexamined judgment towards minorities, sad endings. Those'll have lower ratings on average.

If you think you vibe with that, take a look. If not, I'm sure you can find other lists that work for you.

• >9 means it's brilliant

• >8 I'd def recommend. 

• 7 means it's fun enough, might recommend, but there are no masterpieces here

• 6 means it's watchable but nothing special, standard fare.

• 5 means it's got some amount of redeeming qualities, but also issues.

• <4 means I kinda hated it

• link - Haunted by Ghost with Grudge, Saved by Soulmate; weirdly a bunch of these came out around the same time, with a very similar plot

• link - Disability Rep; Physical disabilities.
